One of the best war movies I have ever seen. This movie is a great example of why so few films have been made about the Western Front of World War 1. There is nothing to glorify or romanticize about the brutality, horror, and needless slaughter that occurred in the trenches of WW1, especially in those final days before the armistice. You might be asking yourself why you should watch the movie in light of what I've said so far. You should watch it because it is a reminder of what blind nationalism and disconnected leadership can lead to. You should watch it because we must never forget what happened when hell existed on Earth for four years from 1914 to 1918.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised how many people don't like this movie in an era of CGI, reboots, remakes, sequels, prequels, and generally easy to digest movies/tv shows. This is a real Christopher Nolan movie, not a Batman, but a real Christopher Nolan movie like Memento or Prestige. Watch it a few times. Pay attention to the details. Appreciate the sensory experience.

Most of these bad reviews are because the person watched it once and was upset they weren't spoon fed every aspect of the characters and story. There is a ton of characterization and a great story but you have to pay attention.
