It's very understandable how your video game player can take one look at this rustic milestone of gaming today and wonder how on earth it ever did well. However I'm betting that most of them probably don't realise that they actually have a lot to thank this little barest of bones game for, because in 1972 it changed the entertainment world. Often considered to be the first ever commercial video game, Pong's premise is simplicity itself, in that two players compete against each other in a simple overhead table tennis match. The game inspired many other companies to take notice, and create Pong clones, which in return forced Atari to begin creating better more complex games, effectively beginning the video game industry. Say what you will, but without humble Pong, there would arguably be no video games as we know them today. And for me at least that's what the 10 is for, the historic value appreciation and nostalgia, rather than what it is today. It does have a little special place in my heart, back when I was really little I can remember how me and my big brother had a lot of fun times together playing it... To Pong!!!
