Review of Kavafis

Kavafis (1996)
expression of admiration
24 June 2016
beautiful images. decent acting. eulogy to memory of a great writer.inspired recreation of atmosphere. and nothing more. fragments from past and present in a puzzle who must suggest the world, the talent, the work, the personal life. result - a sketch. because , the fear to explore more than the social aspects of his existence does the impression to ignore the most important aspects. the life of Kavafis was little more than a never ending poetry. but the experiences are useful for define his motifs, his images and poems. the homosexuality was a not insignificant aspect but it is not the most inspired choice to transform it in more than a brick of his personality. sure, Vangelis saves, always, all. the images are beautiful and that is the second virtue for a film who is more an exercise of admiration than a biopic.
