Mérette (1982 TV Movie)
7/10
Battle of wills

This is an good view movie. It tells of a young girl who looses her mother and blames god. As a result she refuses to accept religious teachings. Her father sends her away to be guided by a pastor in a country village. From here it is a battle of her refusing to accept what is deemed acceptable behavior by the pastor and the people in the village. Neither the pastor nor the girl will give way to the other. The part of the girl is excellently portrayed by Anne Bos and the part of the Pastor equally well acted by Jean Bouise. I am surprised Anne Bos has so few movies to her name as she seemed to be a potentially good actress, especially for her age.

It is a good watch, but unfortunately not a freely available movie. I viewed it on a DVD where the quality was acceptable but not excellent. I still enjoyed it. Direction is good with a good story. I am not sure if a copy with subtitles is available, otherwise you will need understand French.
