Why was this film made?

To all those who have a problem with the release of Padmavati, you need to chill - if we can allow something as historically, geographically and technically inaccurate as Amazon Obhijaan to release peacefully, you too can learn to be tolerant.

Amazon Obhijaan is hands down one of the worst films I have seen this year. I'm not going to hold back here, it was terrible. There is absolutely no redeeming factor for this film. I refuse to understand why filmmakers continue to cast Dev, because, let's face it, we cannot allow this kind of terrible dialogue delivery into our lives. This film was multilingual in places, yet nobody can speak even one language correctly. And whoever wrote the dialogues, you need to stop using those quotes fuelled by morality - "We all need to look at the past to look at future", "Alcohol is the choice of (sic) defeated man" - because you are a TERRIBLE writer to have even committed sacrilege with what is probably an 11 year old's Moral Science textbook. The CGI was so bad - I don't think a 40 feet anaconda crawling through the grass is supposed to incite laughter in the audience. This is a period film with zero attention to detail about the period it is talking about. The acting would have been more suitable in a stage production. There is no SUBTLETY in any aspect of this film, my God. The El Dorado myth has been chopped into pieces like some sort of mixed salad, and the piece of gold they show in the end? Yeah, I have craft paper in that texture. There was honestly no reason to make this film.

Anybody who found this to be good cinema - you're entitled to your own opinions, certainly, but you need to experience some real cinema. I'm sure a large section of the audience will enjoy it and all, and people are calling it a 'milestone' in Bengali cinema - but I've seen some brilliant Bengali films this year, and this was not it. Not even with all the sparkle - nope, there was no gold.

I am sure Pizarro, Orellana and Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay are regretful of having provided the basis for this story.
