Banoffee Pie has all the ingredients of a good short film - Excellent acting, excellent cinematography & direction and an engaging subject layered with the ever growing menace of Romeo Squad who force a ban on people and their love life in the north part of India. It hardly matters to them as they feel they are the upholders of Indian culture and thus are constantly having a face-off with those that are influenced by the West. The story Banoffee Pie revolves around two individuals who meet at a cafe, like any other day, but end up interacting with such radical forces in the society. The couple's conversation is candid and thought-provoking; raising several questions in the way things are perceived by some people. But who cares if it permanently leaves a scar on the minds of those attacked. Who is to be blamed. As the events unfold, the story focuses on the possibility of how such perceptions could be dramatically wrong. The film effectively moves on without playing the blame game leaving an impressionable mark on the minds of the audiences. No wonder it carries home awards. Cheers!!
