It's an interesting show. Came across it from the hosts sister show Buzzfeeds Unsolved: True Crime.
It's curious that both shows start with Ryan and someone who is replaced with Shane.
The format is pretty good an enjoyable.
Shane is pretty mellow, well tempered and the voice of reason.
Ryan however is very jumpy and excitable. In later episodes he gets very "pissy" and angry, especially with Ryan. And boy does Ryan has a major girl scream.
It appears to be "his" show and Shane is not so much a co host as he is Ryan's supporting cast. Ryan doesn't like to be questioned or have his lines stepped only. You also see Shane holding a camera and shooting Ryan but it's never the other way around so Ryan not only has to have more lines but also needs to have more camera angles and screen time. He also says the same lines, not catch phrases, in most episodes and you just wonder when he'll say it in each episode. I do wish he wouldn't use the spirit box in every single episode. Likewise they do a lot of the same things in each episode. Mix it it. You don't have to say your names, asks the spirts to speak your names, do 3 min of separate quiets time, use the spirit box, etc is every episode.
I don't have a problem with Ryan per see but the show just feels unbalanced.
It's certainly better than your typical ghost chaser show. The shorter segments are also appreciated.
I don't get the high 8 ratings. It's not that amazing, great, different.
