Xu You Yi (Zhang Nan) is a successful writer in early 20th Century Shanghai where it appears she leads a charmed life. Yan Wei (Annie Sun) runs a photographic studio and is a loner with a violent past where she was a soldier in a conflict. Through circumstance there worlds meet as the successful writers life begins to fall apart and the photographer is involved in vengeance leading to murder. It is a very well scripted 12 episode series with excellent cinematography and great acting from the entire cast. The pacing of each episode draws you in and by the end I was fully invested and unsure how it was going to culminate. The ending was a little open ended and that was ok as I really hope we will get a series two.
