Trippel Trappel Dierensinterklaas

I like the animal point of view and al the subtile hints of tippical dutch things like "patatje mayo". I think for a Dutch or Flemish it is a really nice movie to watch with the kids.

Pretty entertaining, crowdfunded, hand drawn animation, eighties Disney-style. For a Dutch animation production, quite impressive and lovingly made. Nice painterly scenes and an original take on the St. Nicolas aestethic. Great audio soundtrack and voice acting and the action sequences are imaginative and expertly staged.

Dudok de Wit it's not, but as action oriented family entertainment, hard to falter.

This was a charming Christmas-themed movie. And personally enjoyed it more than most of the recent Holiday films and specials from the recent years, mostly thanks to its animation style, with simple but appealing designs, which reminded of the Disney animations from the 80s and early 90s.

I don't know about you guys but the overall animation could be WAY BETTER if handled by professionals instead of this cash-grab of a title. Stuttering animation, forgettable characters (also very flat and with no character at all)...

Please forget this title and leave it in the shops and watch Als je begrijpt wat ik bedoel instead. It also is done by Dutch animators and it's way better than this.

And why about Saint Nicholas? The kids in the Netherlands know him but what about the people outside the Netherlands? They have no idea what's deal about.

So yeah, just three stars. Sorry.
