Teen dreams are made of these
Well not all teen dreams of course, but I can appreciate the state of mind this was born out of and what the humor level tries to achieve and to some extent does achieve too. Having said that the humor is in the eye of the beholder and some will be just annoyed.
Don't watch if that is the case. Not even for the cameos! Be it Robert Patrick or the "guy from the Fast and Furious movies". Don't get too excited, no big names in that regard in here. There's a Arnold Schwarzenegger double here for example. I am very fond of Kat Dennings though ... again Teen dreams. Totally get it, call me crazy for that. Decent overall, with some fun and action scenes that will or should be able to entertain you

Trying to follow Hollywood's American-style spoofing route is totally different. Jokes, jokes, plots and effects are all half-baked.

Okay movie with some good scenes
At first when I saw it was a Chinese movie I feared the worst because I saw already a lot of bad Asian movies. But this one is actually okay. Okay if you're not too picky on unrealistic action scenes and sometimes absurd humor. You won't get bored during this movie because there is always something going on. The story is sometimes a bit far fetched but still enjoyable to watch. Some slow motion shootings are actually very well done and you can see they put some effort in bringing you something else than the average action movie. The majority of the actors speak Mandarin and that's something you have to get used to because to me it all sounds the same and aggressive all the time. But once you get passed that Hollywood Adventures is worth a watch.
What a blast
Hollywood Adventures (2015) is an action comedy movie co-written by Justin Lin and it follows a young man from China going to Hollywood to find his girlfriend and meets two people on his quest that gets insane. This movie was a first time watch for me and it was freaking awesome.
Positives for Hollywood Adventures (2015): This is just a good old fashioned action comedy movie with a group of characters going on an insane adventure in Hollywood. The cast is really good here with their performances particularly Zhao Wei, Huang Xiaoming and Tong Dawei. The movie has a lot of fun action sequences with some great humor sprinkled throughout the runtime. This is one of those movies that was made to entertain the audience with everything you see in a major blockbuster. The movie is paced very well and it never lets up for once because there is so much going on in the story. And finally, I was able to watch this movie for free on YouTube.
Negatives for Hollywood Adventures (2015): There is this filmmaker character who was really annoying because he was yelling too loudly for no reason and I wanted to knock him out. The movie also ends very abruptly and it was very strange.
Overall, Hollywood Adventures (2015) is a damn entertaining action comedy movie that will please a lot of movie fans everywhere. I highly recommend you go on YouTube and watch the movie right now.

Unexpectedly enjoyable B-movie that never takes itself too seriously
I caught this on the plane from Dubai to LA. Not sure if I was just sleep-deprived and delirious or just needed to watch something light-hearted after having my spirit demolished after watching Sicario, but Hollywood Adventures unexpectedly ended up being one of the best movies I've seen in a while.
The visual gags made me laugh, the tongue-in-cheek humor kept a smile on my face, and the likability of the main actors kept me engaged. Zhao Wei is charismatic and plays her character with a dynamic personality, while Huang Xiaoming looks like he's having a lot of fun while playing the straight man. Dawei as the wise-cracking sidekick and his self-aware jokes about movies (including the one he's in) were icing on the cake. Props to producer Justin Lin for helping to get this movie, a collaboration between US and Chinese cinema, made- he's also probably responsible for improving the car scenes, given his experience on the Fast and the Furious movies.
Don't expect Hollywood Adventures to be The Godfather, but if you're in the mood for a ridiculous, entertaining movie, expect to be pleasantly surprised.
