Before you judge the movie, you must understand it is based on a famous comic. It's a superman parody hero which makes some superhero situations so funny

Ironical spoof of the American hero, Superman, here in the peculiar Spaniard style. Spanish comic books legend comes alive in this wonderfully entertaining saga of Superhero's life . It portrays Superlópez from being a baby on a doomed and farway planet named Chitón. There a nasty General called Skorba : Ferran Rañe, threatens with his military army to destroy the planet, annhilate towns and its population. While the planet is really threatened, the newborn is sent by his parents : Gonzalo Castro, Portas, to Earth by flying at a pod throughout the deep space. The pod lands on the Spanish countryside where is found, raised and educated by a farmer marriage : Pedro Casablanc, Gracia Olayo, who have a repair garage . Later on, when grown-up, he works as an offfice clerk and decides to practice and expose his superpowers by flying and pulling off impossible missions . Along the way, another native, Maribel Verdú, of his planet attempts to capture him to carry out dark purports . Meantime, Juan gets a job from his old friend Jaime : Julián López, but then his orderly existence in interrupted when there appears Luisa : Alexandra Jimenez, his former flame and old love interest in the University, who is also hired in the company by Jaime. Thing go wrong when both, Jaime and Juán fall for her. "The superhero that this country does not need".
Diverting superhero movie based on comic books from Jan, with thrills, noisy action, twists, state-of-art FX , lots of humor and an amusing romance . It is an entertaining movie, resulting to be a pretty fun spoof of the known character Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuter, here as a botcher hero with several troubles well played by Dani Rovira . A surrealist, hilarious, though uneven comedy, but it is also bold and intelligent, at times. Nice special effects and a script that does not take itself too seriously make this a decent movie. Promising satiric begins well , but ultimately defeated by cliched story and filmmaking, as well as tiring physical comedy. Daniel Rovira gives a sympathetic acting as the ordinary and anonymous office worker undergoing transformation into a special Spanish superhero. He is well accompanied by Alexandra Jimenez as his love interest, developing a triangular love story among Dani Rovira-Alexandra Jimenez-Julián López. Fine support cast formed by important secondaries as Julián López, Pedro Casablanc, Gracia Olayo, Gonzalo de Castro, Ferrán Rañe, among others . Special mention for Maribel Verdú as Agata, an extraterrestrial woman turned in CEO of her own and more notorious cleaner machine company all over the world.
Here stands out the colorful and brilliant cinematogaphy by Arnau Valls Colomer. As well as a thrilling and catching musical score by Fernando Velazquez. The motion picture was professionally directed by Javier Ruiz Caldera. The movie wion several prizes and nominations such as Cinema Writers Circle Award, Feroz Awards, Gaudi Awards, Sant Jordi and Goya Awards. Caldera is a prestigious editor and filmmaker, especially known for his hilarious films. A comedy expert who has made a few but successful films, such as : Spanish movie, Tres bodas más, Promoción fantasma and another rendition based on a comic book : Anacleto Agente Secreto. Rating 6.5/10. Decent superhero movie and enjoyable comedy.

More often than not, Spanish cinema is a matter of hollywood rehashes, really terrible humour, and forced drama.
Superlopez a superhero parody. Here we have some of the finest in Spanish comedy (although the bar is very low, so it's really not much of a compliment) and it really makes use of some native tools that can make Spanish films stand out from Hollywood films in a good way.
First, much of the humour centers on critiques of Spanish society. As an example, Superlopez' adopted father says at one point "in this country, you have to be mediocre to get ahead." Like in Hercules (1997), rather than being celebrated for his super abilities, the townsfolk revile him as a freak. In that movie it didn't make sense (wouldn't people want to be friends with a freakishly strong person?), here it is critiquing Spanish society as complacent and uniform to the extent that any deviation from the norm is seen is undesireable.
Granted, there is the obligatory "make fun of regional Spanish accents" scene which occurs in most Spanish comedies. That's not funny, but we can overlook it since I assume there's some law requiring such scenes to be in every Spanish comedy.
Secondly, because Europeans are not so socially developed as the USA, they're able to get away with being less PC. Here the Latin American characters are not shown in a positive light. All are in very low-ranking employment positions compared to the Spaniards and some are stereotyped as violent or lecherous. It's offensive and it wouldn't fly in today's USA, but the outrageousness of it is pretty funny. Now, whether or not it's responsible or desireable to have this sort of thing in the media is a good question for debate.
Ultimately it's got laughs and it's effective as a vehicle for satire, outrageous humour, and physical gags. On the other hand, it has its longueurs here and there and the plot is silly and inane in the extreme.
Honourable Mentions: Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult (1994). A hilarious action parody. It's similar to this movie but more surrealist in its humour.

Despite the propaganda machinery of Mediaset, this movie is awful! The film has no place to catch it; Slow and without grace. Those of us who read Superlopez's comics are totally disappointed by this thing (I can't call it a movie twice). In short, run away!!!!
An enjoyable light hearted parody of Superman. The English audio and sub titles don't really do justice to the original Spanish script but still worth watching. A welcome counterbalance to the "serious " super hero genre.
Worst movie I've ever watched. Dani Rovira pretends to be a comedian, but nothing works when he tries to be funny. Terrible acting. Do not waste your time.
For a first movie of a well known Character will be important to stablish good foundations , this film is that and more , beacouse the need of show how a man ( well is an alien but ) with superpowers grows trying to look like a normal person to other people , to be accepted , and the hard way to break with his foster parents education to arrive to his maximum potencial .
So i hope this motion picture will be the first of many , in another hand we have a comedy for all the family , well will be some non-correct languaje , but nothing a modern child had'nt hear in his usual day . And we have a film with hiden eggs also , the hero having breakfast ....... looks like a Alfredo Landa or ...... will be Charles Chaplin , or may be a mix of both of them.
Finaly has been a good experience to see "Superlopez" finally on a cinema screen.

Despite the trailer for this film being on Spanish TV four or five times every commercial break for 5 months (particularly on TeleCinco) and getting completely sick of the sight of it, I was dragged to this piece of trash by my young nephew. He soon regretted it. He is 11 and even he thought it was utter crap. It was complete garbage from start to finish: not funny, bad acting, stupid story, terrible cast, embarrassingly amateurish rubbish film. Do not bother with this pile of dog's business (I don't know if I can swear properly on these reviews).

I enjoyed the comics as a kid, but I don't remember enough to be concern about fidelity. They were fed by the popularity of Superman, and protected by the aparent anonimity of a small country like Spain.
You'd say is a parody of Superman, when it's more like a parody of the average Spanish man. Even with superpowers, a man raised in Spain would be insecure, and his concerns would be different than those of a idealistic, noble hero.
We make fun of ourselves and our limitations. The effects and designs are purposely not top-notch. And that can get old, and it isn't necesarily funny to people from other cultures. Also, references are mostly internal. It's no surprise that the movie doesn't work well outside of Spain.
Inside Spain, it's an honest effort to reinvent a loved character from our childhood in a new medium. It's almost family safe, and my kids loved the movie even not knowing the character (or many cultural references). It was entertaining, the main character is relatable, and it has a few good laughs along the way.
It's not a clever intense movie with impecable rythm. You don't get invested in the plot, because the focus is to create comedy situations. It could have been better, but it could have been much much worse. It delivered what I expected.
Just don't take it too seriously and you'll enjoy it.

This movie has too many problems.
1- The lack of any flow. About 70% of the movie is about normal situations of any person (going to work, boring life, family problems, ...etc..)
2- In a super-hero movie we want to see a super-hero making very unusual things and saving people...this is not the case... the only think he do is "saving" people in a metro accident using a very very stupid way to do that (Not spoiler, it is shown in the trailer)...etc...
3- The uniform is only used to fight against "final boss" not for saving anyone.
4- The main problem of the movie is the target. I mean, the movie don't know if main target are children or adult people.
The argument is stupid, some situations are comical/stupid, and oher are normal boring adult situations... but the real problem is the script... I mean... the script uses very disapointing words for children, strong languaje, insults...etc...
In spanish (my case) it uses phrases like "Estoy hasta los COJONES", "Hostia","acuantar mas con una chica en la cama, y no precisamente durmiendo"...etc...
This is not for children, but the age rate is "all ages"... obviusly this is not accurate, and looks like the rate has make any kind of exception with this movie to help the earnings instead of protecting childhood.

Funny series, the jokes are not made all the time, so you don't get tired of the series and want to keep watching. The main character doesn't know what to do with his powers which makes it so funny. Only the cgi was bad but that just makes the series funnier. There were also times when it was a bit overacting, but maybe they did that on purpose. The jokes aren't made all the time, so you don't get tired of the series and want to keep watching. Also, there is not every moment of action, but also moments about his daily life, which makes the film more human in the character. Definitely recommended to watch it with the family.

Watched with rewind, this should be a parody of superman in the spanish way, if you ask me they fouled in every aspect. The humor they present is not very funny, in general the plot is slightly stupid even for a parody. All in all poorly done!

For me, Superlopez has always been a joke with some moments where I could make you laugh. This is the movie too.
Parody is one of the most used resources of the time and Spain has the good examples of this and how to do a good adaptation, i wish i could say the same for this movie.
Superlopez presents the classic superman story but in a what if universe, with it's own originality behind, it pressents a very known story that has been told a lot of times in a lot of different ways and also the actors rolling here are very good and offer their best actuation.
Sadly i can't say many more good things, humor is forced, it tries to make laugh and it doesn't work because it's forced in the plot with no context and the VFXs look bad in almost the whole movie like they didn't had enough time time to work on it.
It's a movie to see in a boring evening and alone, it's better to see it by yourself than involving others to see it, it's sad becase we have Anacleto and Mortade & Filemon wich both work very well in the last years.

This is not Avengers. It is a completely goofy Spanish parody of Superman that was so dumb that it was funny. I'm not Spanish, and I don't speak spanish, so I can't speak to how faithful this was to the comic, or how good the dialogue and acting we're in the original language. I had to watch the English dubbed version on Netflix. My wife picked it on a whim. I had never heard of the comic before, but I do like The Tick, and other superhero parodies. But it was so silly and stupid funny to that I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it. Its kind of slow in places, and the dub has a lot of swearing in it (even a few f-bombs that I thought were out of place). But I laughed out loud a lot, and even felt inclined to give it a positive review. If you are wanting an epic superhero movie with good production values and and top notch acting you'll probably hate this. If you're looking for brilliant comedy and witty dialog, then you'll probably also hate this. But if you like superhero parodies, and enjoy cheesy light-hearted movies then you might like it. I thought the music was actually really good. And I found the lead actor to be likeable and funny, although it was an obvious dub. But the voice actor did pretty good and I think the cheesiness of the dubbed made me like it more.

From someone who's never heard about Super Lopez before: I found this movie on Netflix and it's a great entertainment. Fun, light and well done. I'm Brazilian and didn't know this superhero even exist and I found hilarious. I watched with my husband and we both enjoyed it. It's a superhero parody and if you watch it without expectations you'll have some fun, too. I gave it 10 for the effort to make some good parody (and to correct the ratings. This movie doesn't deserve 5,4).
I think it's a good adaptation of cartoon and I found it so funny. I lived in Spain and understand Spanish language. That's way, I understand that some people doesn't like this movie. A little bit difficult feel the ambiance of movie, if you're not familiar to Spanish society and language..
If you want to watch a spainish parody of Superman that has funny action and worth a movie to watch I recommend. Nothing special but definitely an easy watch. Putting 10 stars to fix the rating. It's really not bad if you expect it to be a decent Spanish parody.

This Spanish Superman parody is seriously funny! Those reviewers that gave it a low rating just don't get it. This movie was not meant to be a big superhero movie, and certainly not to be taken seriously.
They made it deliberately goofy, and the result is almost two hours of fun! I had some big laughs with this movie, and enjoyed it all the way. Two hours well spent! Highly recommended for every fan of Superman and parodies.
This is a honest movie, which makes great use of what it has to offer: low budget CGI and self-irony. And this is exactly what you can expect, and nothing more. Would definitely recommend it if you´re looking for something to make you laugh. On a personal note, I found this way better than expensive, fabricated superhero-ish productions like the umbrella academy.

It's a parody, I laughed a lot. There are many funny moments in the movie. I have to raté this à 10 to balance out the unjustified low ratings. As comedies go, it's a 7, worth watching :-)
