This movie was filmed at an actual wildlife reserve in South Africa, and volunteers there helped the crew with such tasks as holding the horses still, and moving temporary lion cages to location. They even filmed at the volunteer housing.
Kevin Bacon had initially expressed interest in returning to the franchise but ultimately decided to pass.
