The show uses their sprint(EMS) and supervisor (fire and PD) units as the camera cars and trucks to blend in.
Another version of the show is set in Tampa, Florida.
In 2016, City of New Orleans cancelled their contracts with A&E, which were First 48 and Nightwatch. This decision came after the defense team in a triple capital homicide case attempted to accuse First 48 film makers of withholding footage that would have found the defendent not guilty. Even though the judge confessed that the defense's accusation was obviously a final attempt to turn the tide away from the prosecution, she admitted she wished New Orleans did not contract with A&E. The City Commissioner claimed the shows had done their jobs and bettered community relations with EMS, and it was time to end the contract.
