The costume of Will (Beau Mirchoff) at the masquerade, which is composed of a red jacket and a mask representing a corpse, can be a wink to The Phantom of The Opera who is dressed as the Red Death.
Initially titled "Tell Tale Lies," this movie references numerous works by Edgar Allen Poe, most notably The Tell Tale Heart.
The underwater shots were taken on an iPhone.
This film features Beau Mirchoff, Bailey De Young, and Michael J. Willett, all three of which are stars of popular MTV comedies (Mirchoff in Awkward. (2011), De Young and Willett in Faking It (2014)).
The second teenage drama film featuring Sean Patrick Thomas in a main role concerning manipulation, death, seduction and destruction of one's reputation. He had previously appeared in a main role as Ronald in Roger Kumble's box office, teenage classic, Cruel Intentions (1999) in which he was manipulated into a skirmish with the leading male which caused his death, but inadvertently brought out about the end of one's reputation. In The Murder Pact he portrays the pivotal role of a college student posing as a college professor in alignment with the lead female protagonist brings about the end of the lead male's reputation and ends in the death of one character.
