Exclusive: Guy Burnet (Counterpart) and Danny Deferrari (Shiva Baby) are the latest additions to the cast of Christopher Nolan’s film Oppenheimer for Universal.
They join an ensemble led by Cillian Murphy that also includes Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Dylan Arnold, David Krumholtz, Alden Ehrenreich, David Dastmalchian, Olli Haaskivi, Jason Clarke, James D’Arcy and Michael Angarano, as previously announced.

Dianne Houston, an Oscar nominee for her 1995 short Tuesday Morning Ride and the first and, so far, only Black woman to be Oscar nominated for a work she directed, has been tapped to write and direct the Moving Picture Institute original film The Melony Armstrong Story.
The film is based on the inspiring, true story of Melony Armstrong, a mother who works at a shelter for battered women and decides to start a natural hair braiding business to achieve financial independence for herself and others. But to do so she must overcome unexpected obstacles imposed by a powerful cartel and the state of Mississippi.
Lana Link, Rob Pfaltzgraff and Stacey Parks are producing the project, with Armstrong and Nick Reid serving as executive producers. Production is anticipated to commence spring 2021. Mpi previously produced the 2019 film Miss Virginia starring Uzo Aduba.

Oh my God, they killed Kenny! You bastards!
Talk about a shocking, tragic way to kick off Season 3 of “Killing Eve.” Kenny Stowton (Sean Delaney), the former MI6 tech whiz — and son to spy boss Carolyn Martens (Fiona Shaw) — was killed at the end of the show’s season opener. But by whom, we don’t yet know (although we can start to speculate).
After the disastrous end of Season 2, which left Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) near death at the hands of Villanelle (Jodie Comer) and estranged from Carolyn, the show’s characters scattered. Eve was essentially hiding out by working in the kitchen at a Korean restaurant, Villanelle somehow tricked an unsuspecting woman into marrying her, and Carolyn was essentially demoted, with a new boss.
As for Kenny, he was no longer...

Hailed as “television’s first premium Black western,” Boley is inspired by the e true story of an early 20th century black utopia, Boley, Oklahoma, which was established in 1904 as one of the largest and most thriving black towns in the country.
In 1930s Oklahoma, a group of proud Black citizens and businessmen took up arms against notorious gangster Pretty Boy Floyd and his band of outlaws to defend their community. Producer Billy Peterson has formed a new production company, Racing Green Pictures, and announced production on “Seacole,” his first feature with the banner.
The film will star Gugu Mbatha-Raw (“Belle”) and Sam Worthington (“Avatar”). It centers on a Mary Seacole, a pioneering Jamaican nurse who cared for wounded British soldiers during the Crimean War and found herself at odds with Florence Nightingale.
Racing Green Pictures says it is looking to back prestige films, many of which will have strong social messages. Peterson, the producer of the documentary “Shenandoah” and the dramedy “Ping Pong Summer,” also founded and led several film related entities such as Epic Match Media.

Zoe Saldana is attached to artist Marco Perego-Saldana’s romance “Keyhole Garden,” the Exchange CEO Brian O’Shea announced in Cannes.
The Exchange is introducing the project to international buyers at the Marché du Film this week. CAA is handling U.S. sales.
Saldana is appearing as Gamora in worldwide blockbuster “Avengers: Endgame” and is set to reprise her role as Neytiri in the “Avatar” sequels. Perego-Saldana, who is married to Zoe Saldana, is making his feature debut.

Brian O’Shea’s The Exchange has sold Vanessa Redgrave and Timothy Spall starrer “Mrs. Lowry & Son,” about the British artist L.S. Lowry, to several major territories.
Distribution rights were picked up by Rialto in Australia, DDDream Intl. in China, Paradiso in Benelux, Notorious in Italy, Sky Digi in Taiwan, and Shoval in Israel. The airline rights were acquired by Cinesky.
The film, scripted by Martyn Hesford, BAFTA-nominated for “Kenneth Williams: Fantabulosa!,” is an “intimate and humorous” drama about the unhappy relationship between Lowry (Spall) and his bed-ridden yet controlling mother, Elizabeth (Redgrave).
The project was directed by Adrian Noble, the former director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, and was produced by Debbie Gray from Genesius Pictures (“Northern Soul”).
