In episode 4, Christos (Giorgos Kapoutzidis) shows some family photographs to Niki, among which are the photographs of his grandmother Eirini. These photographs are in fact of the late actress Eirini Koumarianou (1931-2013), who played Kapoutzidis' character's grandmother in the very successful series "Sto para pente" (2005-2007), which was also penned by him.
During his research for the preparation of the script, Giorgos Kapoutzidis traveled abroad to Aberdeen (Scotland) and Bratislava (Slovakia) in order to receive training in curling, a sport that was almost completely unknown in Greece.
This is the first of three TV series written by Giorgos Kapoutzidis that has retained the title that he originally proposed for it. His other two TV series ("Savvatogennimenes" and "Sto Para Pente") had their original titles changed when they went into production.
Smaragda Karudi was originally considered for the role of Foivi Papadatou, but she was given the, more challenging for her, role of Niki Aggelidou, for which she decided to change her usual look, turning into a brunette for the first time.
Giorgos Kapoutzidis started writing Ethniki Ellados as a movie script, but eventually decided to adapt it for TV, which is the medium he is most attached to and well-known for.
