The second drama series in Singapore to focus on a specific Chinese dialect group and on the Hakkas, after The Teochew Family (1995) on the Teochews and before Hainan Kopi Tales (2000) on the Hainanese.
Singaporeans of Chinese descent who identify themselves of Hakka origin have come to make up the fourth-largest in Singapore as according to the Singapore Department of Statistics, after in respective order of Hokkien, Teochew, Cantonese.
Despite the size of the Hakkas in Singapore as according to the census as the fourth-largest amongst the Chinese dialect groups, the most famous Singaporean of Hakka origin is Singapore's founding prime minister in the late Mr. Lee Kuan Yew.

And amongst the cast of the drama series, Xie Shaoguang is definite of Hakka origin. Chen Shucheng was originally born in China but is of Teochew origin, and the same for both of the Malaysian-born Christopher Lee and Chen Hanwei.
