On March 31, 2015, the 60th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna was just around the corner. This prompted the BBC to present a special show to commemorate the contest's diverse history. Petra Mede (Swedish host of the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö) and Graham Norton (British Eurovision commentator for the BBC) hosted an entertaining show in which past winners were able to perform their songs again.
As the reigning winner, Conchita Wurst from Austria with RISE LIKE A PHOENIX was, of course, present. Previous years' winners also participated, including Loreen from Sweden (EUPHORIA) and Emmelie DeForest from Denmark (ONLY TEARDROPS). Representing Germany on the BBC show was not Lena MEYER-LANDRUT, the winner of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo with SATELLITE, but NICOLE, who had won in 1982 with "EIN BISSCHEN FRIEDEN." The audience was visibly enthusiastic about the German singer NICOLE, who had also achieved a number one hit in the British music charts with "A LITTLE PEACE" in 1982.
There were also wonderful performances by LORDI from Finland, Johnny LOGAN from Ireland, the OLSEN BROTHERS from Denmark, and the HERREY'S from Sweden.
The concert was broadcast on German television on May 22, 2015, one evening before the Grand Final in Vienna.
The special highlight was that the victory once again went to Sweden with Måns ZELMERLÖW and HEROES. This is how Petra Mede was able to host the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm together with Måns Zelmerlöw.
