This movie is canon to the naruto TV series.
The bending shuriken tehnique that Sasuke teaches Boruto, works the same way as the one that Itachi tried to teach Sasuke when the latter was 8.
As far as personality is concerned, Boruto is a combination between his father, Naruto (somehow childish, ambitious, protective) and his father's best friend and rival, Sasuke (arrogant, elite ninja). He even decides that he doesn't want to become a Hokage like his father, but a shinobi like Sasuke.
Is said to be the very last Naruto anime movie.
