This is the 1st of 4 b-horror/comedy shark movies directed by Misty Talley. It's also the first to star Jason London and Cassie Steele, who would return for Mississippi River Sharks (2017), although playing different characters. Talley's other 2 shark movies are Ozark Sharks (2016) and Santa Jaws (2018).
The island that they travel to where the zombie sharks attack it called Redplum Island, which is similar in name to Redrum which is stated several times by character Danny Torrances' imaginary friend Tony in The Shining.
