Fallout 4 (2015)

FAQ

Fallout 4

The philosophy of Bethesda with regard to Fallout can summarised in a few sentences. Fallout one, two, and New Vegas were games about survivors trying to rebuild from the ashes. Fallout three and four are about the ashes.

The fact that Bethesda thinks a place that has access to working nuclear reactors, water purification, and the ability to build robots from scratch would look like this shows they are not fans of real science fiction.

Because Bethesda saw the bottlecaps as iconic to Fallout and decided that a society two centuries after the war would not develop a currency of its own.

Even when the value of money was backed by resources such as gold or silver, having a currency that could be so easily forged makes no sense. Even in the absence of a federal or state government, localities such as Diamond City would soon see the benefits of an abstracted currency.

No. In fact, there is some evidence that they would not survive.

Mythbusters tested the theory that cockroaches would definitely continue to exist after a nuclear war in 2012 by exposing cockroaches to radioactive material. It is true that they would survive for longer than Humans, but the test subjects all died at extreme levels of radiation. The only factor that might lead to the general survival of the cockroach is that they breed quickly.

Insects that are more likely to survive include ants and fruit flies. Notable is that ants breathe through holes in their exoskeleton. Long story short, when an ant grows too large, the manner in which they breathe cannot sustain them. As cockroaches breathe the same way as ants, the same is likely to be true of them.

Assuming cockroaches continue to exist after a nuclear war, the answer is almost certainly no.

Although Tupperware does not exist in the Fallout universe, it will definitely continue to exist after a nuclear war.
