On the same night the movie premiered in New York City (March 16th 2018) Jessy and the Fancy Cats, an oldies cover music group on the autism spectrum from New Jersey (who are fans of the movie and friends of Brandon Polansky and Samantha Elisofon), paid tribute to the movie at their Motown/Soul Tribute Concert at Mt. Bethel Village in Warren, NJ. Founding members Jessy Leppert and Jodi Hadam (who were a real life couple at the time) parodied the scene where David and Sarah talk about going to the Brooklyn Bridge at the Jewish Community Center by singing "You Make Me Feel Brand New" by The Stylistics and after the performance, Jessy and The Fancy Cats (Jessy Leppert, Jodi Hadam, Danielle Strauss and Jess Kramer) won an award for outstanding performance.
Many people compare the movie to the singing group Jessy and The Fancy Cats, whereas Brandon Polansky is 13 years older than his main co-star Samantha Elisofon and Jessy Leppert is 8-12 years older than his female background singers (who he calls "Fancy Cats") Jodi Hadam, Danielle Strauss and Jess Kramer. Fancy Cat Jodi Hadam is compared to Samantha Elisofon who played Sarah because of their singing styles.
Brandon Polansky said he felt uncomfortable doing the sex scene due to him and Samantha Elisofon being surrounded by the cameras and crew.
