The women's shoes that Nick Santa Maria wore hurt his feet so badly that after the first day, he was allowed to wear normal shoes for the rest of the shoot except for a couple of master shots where his feet needed to be visible.
After the salad scene was filmed, they decided to do a "Spanish-language" version, with the actors pretending to read their lines phonetically off cards (as Laurel and Hardy used to do), along with a smattering of Spanglish and gibberish. Director Michael Schlesinger simply yelled, "Action!" and the cast ad-libbed the entire thing until they indicated they were done and then collapsed in laughter. The scene is included as an extra in both the feature version and on the DVD.
