Fish Liew's second film, but it was released after she filmed her third movie Twilight Online (2014). Her first role in Doomsday Party (2023) also required her first nude scene, which terrified her, but she did it anyway. Then she wasn't offered this role until three years later and was upset to find out it required even more extensive full nudity than the first one. But she accepted it because she was desperate. After the film was released, the negative reaction to it and the nudity threw Liew into emotional turmoil and put her and her conservative family at odds. To make matters worse, she and the other two lead actresses were shown naked in the movie poster.
After the three lead actresses were cast, they lived in a dormitory with director Luk Yee Sum to build chemistry. The girls quickly grew close and had no problem wandering around naked in front of each other, especially after being naked together on set. The director kept her clothes on until one night when she came in late and really drunk. She told the girls, "Since I've seen all of you guys naked, now it's your turn to see me naked!" Then she stripped off all her clothes in front of them.
The director and producer auditioned 300 girls for the three lead characters, including a fully nude audition to make sure they were up to the task of the risqué roles. In an interview, the 19-year-old Ashina Kwok explained, "The first day was only a verbal casting, but on the second day, I had to strip off all my clothes to film a screen test with an actor. He had pants on, but I was completely naked."
The director said in an interview that she wanted to change the idea that nakedness equals romance or sex. The most representative scene of this is where the three main characters are watching the fireworks together by the seaside, completely naked. The director said, "Being naked is something that is completely run of the mill in daily life. This is why I wanted to convey how women are seen when they are naked, and also how people see themselves when they are naked."
