The Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC), the Indian film certification body, had asked the filmmakers to delete three scenes where the lead actress Neha Mahajan (who plays Vishaya in the movie) was shown completely naked. The filmmakers refused to do so as according to them it would remove the essence of the film and stood their ground. As a result, the film was banned in India. However, the filmmakers challenged this decision in High Court and they eventually won the case and in 2016 the High Court gave clearance for the film with no cuts and gave an "A" (Adults Only) certificate.
Neha Mahajan, who primarily acts in Marathi films as well as in some Hindi films, makes her Mollywood debut through this film. This is her first film in Malayalam language.
