I was pleasantly surprised by this cool indie flick. Great acting and a good story line which was obviously left open to a sequel. Whilst it was pretty good on the suspense level, any reviews that you read which make out like this is a movie that will make you jump.......hmmmmmmm....nah. Hoping for a sequel though.
If you like drama/ thriller where the psychotic is hidden as sanity this is your movie, because 5150 blurs the line between the two. The 911 calls put my nerves on high alert, and Cami gave me flashbacks from when I worked on a psych-unit at a hospital in Colorado. The ending had me speaking in tongues if you know what that means or to put it another way, it has a WTF ending.
Really well done - especially for a low budget film. I thought the characters and story were gripping from start to finish. Recommend this to anyone who enjoys horror / thriller films. Good direction. Photogrophy is very high level as well. Doesn't feel like a small indie...
Extrramely annoying movie to say the least, unless you like watching a bunch of females scream at eachother and no acting happen whatsoever except for possibly the worst effects I've ever seen for fighting. Likes like they're having seizures while trying to hit eachother. Acting 1/5
Effects 0/5
Story 1/5
Annoyance 5/5
4.5 stars.
5150 is effectively gory beyond most B productions films of this genre. It's unsettling from the beginning and tension is taut until the final scene. I expected it to be supernatural horror or a thrilling slash-fest after reading the synopsis. This film is neither of those. It's a relatively gritty crime-thriller with tension remaining taut up until the final scene. That's certainly applaudible, but with a short runtime it wasn't a major feat. Some care was put into conveying a back story for each of our main characters creating a nice crescendo for us to ride until the end of the film. By the end, we see the characters in a new, and very different light. Is some ways the film was predictable, formulaic. When the landlord character is introduced, I knew where PART of the plot was headed but I still unaware I was watching a crime-thriller until later. Overall, the writing is still fairly good with believable script that simply lacks style at times. I would recommend this one to friends with express interest in the genre who are having difficulty finding something "new" to watch.
