In the scenes where Max travels through the USA, the images were taken from Stephan Tauberts documentary "Discovering the West! Entdecken Sie Amerika" (2013) (V). Stephan Taubert was filmed in front of a Greenscreen to create the effect. Sometimes it's noticible, that the backgrounds were filmed on MiniDV and not on HD, like the rest of the film. But it was a good chance to create scenes that take place somewhere else and not in Germany.
This movie was shot in 30 days in and arround Leipzig.
In the original script, the scene were all the finalists talk to each other was supposed to take place in one room. But there were schedule conflicts and no location available, so the Skype-Chat was created instead. All the actos were filmed seperatly and the scene was edited together in post production.
