"God Eater", based on the video game franchise of the same name, was actually a good show to watch. It reminded me of a steam punk version of "Bleach", with bloody action and dynamic characters who use their own unique weapon. If you haven't seen it, you can watch the show for free at www.Daisuki.net.
Try to imagine a post-apocalyptic world where mankind has been nearly been wiped out by man eating creatures named Aragami. The remnants of Humanity now live in these walled-off cities. The show takes place in one of these cities in Asia; the name of the city is called Fenrir.
The Aragami are not affected by normal weapons, so a group of scientists developed a weapon that was basically a living, man-made Aragami; these weapons were known as God Arcs. These God Arcs are classified into two categories; old types and new types. Old type God Arcs usually take the form of a large sword or a gun; the gun form ones will either be semi or fully automatic. The Old types are unable to switch form, so the wielder, known as a God Eater, is stuck with whatever form they have
New type God Arcs, however, are able to switch between both sword and gun form, with the gun form also being either semi or fully automatic. Each God Arc is completely unique, and therefore only the God Eater given their weapon will be the only person able to wield it.
There is a catch; in order to use a God Arc, a God Eater has to go through a process where their DNA is fused with Oracle, a substance that is able to give life to the Aragami. The person going through the procedure is then fitted with a bracelet and can never take it off. This is the only way to use a God Arc, since they are, after all, Aragami.
That's basically all there is to the main body of the show, but as it goes on, things change. I hope people will like the show. It is very entertaining to watch.

So I stumbled across this on netflix and had heard a lot about the games. Never played them so I figured I would have no material to compare it to and could view it with a non-bias opinion. I did actually like it quite a bit. The art/animation was great. The story was interesting enough to keep me watching till final 13th episode. I just thought the ending was like a and............ nothing. It ends on a note where you're like this has to be another season or 2 right? iMBD says 2016- or whatever like it was an open ended story with more to come. I guess I have to play the games to get the full ending feel.

Like I said this seems to not be my cup of tea. I like the character and creature designs but the overall 3d look just isn't something I seem to get used to in anime. Also the story didn't really catch me so I stopped watching after 7 episodes. I still can understand how this appeals to some people. I would've preferred a little more action and more epic fights between the godeaters and the gods.

This anime doesn't really break new ground and often falls into tropes you've seen many times before. However, I did engage with the characters and was excited when they succeeded and sad when they failed. Music is reaaaaly good and served to punctuate the more emotional moments in the story. Worth a watch and I hope to see a season 2 .

It's a crime if they do not make a second season, when the first one was so great.
Absolute work of art, I love action and this has a lot of it also that one chick is smoking hot which helps. Anyway give it a try passed the 4th episode idk how anyone can leave a review until they watch the entire series. Savages.
And that may seem like an insult to those to love Attack on Titan. I don't mean to insult anyone but I prefer this as even though fights might be in the same vein this has more of the Science Fiction feel behind it than Attack on Titan does, not to mention it is connected to a video game series I actually care about vs. some manga I never got past volume 3 of because of boredom.
Those who wish a video game anime was actually good should watch this. Now to continue waiting for a second season that might never come...

It's attack on titan but faster paced, even when on the second episode I could tell what was going to happen, if you're looking for an anime just watch attack on titan
It's like a poor man's Attack on Titan but with guns, explosions, and boobs
Safe to say it's pretty lit

I watched episode one and was bored by cliche characters and a bland story. This isn't a show I'll be returning to anytime soon.

If your own the fence about the show just wait until episode 5 6 and 7 which are comparatively masterpieces and that's coming from someone who really likes the first 4 episodes

The story line wasn't bad, but the mc was kinda weak. If only a little of his weakness could have been eliminated, it would have been better. At least that's my view.
It's cringeworthy how bad the writing is. It's as if the writers sat down and compiled every cliche possible and then got to work. The saddest part is the action is quite good. The monsters are awesome. Everything else just absolutely ruins it though. The characters are so stupid it hurts. Especially the two main ones. It's hard to watch something so dumb so this is going to get a hard pass from me.
I watch a lot of anime living in Japan since 2003. This one took me a while because it started off barely average. The back story then finally becomes worth watching and I ended up loving it. If it was longer I'd understand the slow start but being just 13 episodes the start really hurts it and that's probably why there are such bad reviews. They didn't stick with it long enough. Really wished they finished it. At least another 11 episodes or so.

The series is formulaic, unoriginal, and just ugly to watch. The constant breast closeups are so stupid, the characters are bland, it's just a mess of a show. I couldn't care less about the characters or plot. Awful.

And on top of all of that copycat sits a plain, oridinary story about boring characters....at least the motion is not robotic like other netflix animes..

The story is very predictable, the characters and encounters are fairly cliched and the world itself is not very unique, but it is watchable with low expectations.
I'd call it a slightly below average anime, fans of endless action and OP hero's with a mysterious background and unanswered questions will love it, and those seeking closure and unique challenges will hate it, but regardless it's a decision only you can make.

This series makes jump-the-shark anime seem logical by comparison. It is extremely gory, so viewers be warned. Beyond that... this is just unbelievably absurd. People surviving several-story falls that should flatten them like a pancake. People outrunning creatures obviously far more powerful and faster... and managing to miraculously give them the slip. People surviving grave injuries that should instantly kill them. "Heroes" that can't seem to do anything right. This is just beyond-bad writing.
The extreme gore is within theme, but excessive (primarily monsters smashing and slashing and stomping and eating and impaling people). Then we have typical gratuitous boobage ( both cleavage and under-boob), even on a woman who is supposed to be in an authorative high-command military position. While this is not new to anime (or any genre of film-making), in this case it just adds to the absurdity of this series.
I know there are gore junkies out there and fanboys who will drool over boobs, regardless of the setting. There are also those who will cry, "It's anime! Anything goes!"... and surely that has proved to be true over the decades. But this show is just so incredibly "grammar school writing" that I stopped about episode 6 before it managed to lower my I. Q. There are far better shows out there. I gave this sufficient chance to redeem itself, but the further it went the stupider it got. Some story writers and directors are just seriously messed up.
