This is one of my favorite sports films. The character development and storytelling are operating very highly. The montages are motivational, meaningful, and beautifully shot. The dunk scenes are probably some of the best in film history, and the acting is superb.

Whenever i was let down by something, i would just watch this movie and i would feel revived. This movie gives me the courage to do anything in life. The dialog is incredible Whenever i lose faith or i don't have the enough courage to face the problems of my life, this movie gives me all i ever need. SO IF SOMEONE DOES NOT LIKE THIS MOVIE, I GUESS THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THAT PERSON. In this movie, the way that this guy Diggs has faced his problems with faith and all heart is awesome. I would recommend this movie to everyone who has problems and doesn't have the courage to face them. I HAVE PERSONALLY WATCHED THIS MOVIE OVER 10 TIMES At least BUT STILL I WATCH IT SOMETIMES WHEN I'm LOW.

TWO THUMBS UP. Its "perfection" is in the fact that this is an interesting, truly uplifting story, with warm characters, outstanding performances, and an appeal to everyone, whatever sex, age, background - and equally for those who know and/or care little for the game of basketball.

If this film didn't mention Jesus or God, the rating would be a 9+ in my humble opinion. But haters hate.

What makes this also one of the best sports films of all time isn't just the sport, it's because it's such a human-interest film, such a wonderful story of giving people second chances in life. Add a true-life David beat Goliath story and you have an appealing film.

Truly LOVE 'Slamma Jamma'

Maybe GREATEST Basketball Movie Ever.

But, I would admit that this movie is not THE greatest basketball movie of all time. I suppose "Hoosiers" would get that title. The only real pet-peave I had is that the basketball players such as Jammer, Diggs, and others are not exactly Shakespearean actors.

Of course, their athletic ability is perfect for their parts and the movie covers their acting deficiencies enough with plenty of playing scenes including numerous dunks by all of these dunk specialists. Overall this goes down as one of my favourite basketball movies simply because it tells it like it is - even if it does have its weaknesses. The acting was good, but the story line was great: faith part was sincere and extraordinary. Chris Staples holds this together as much as possible. There are many cameos. It's overloaded and some of it is unnecessary. I strongly recommend you watch this movie, it's one of the best basketball movies ever.

One of the best sports movies I've ever seen. Ignore the haters - they hate any mention of Jesus. Slamma Jamma is one of the best basketball films of ever as well.

It's hard hitting, slip and hock jabbing glued me to my seat! The lead actor's acting is as good as the rest, the lead nemisis anger pays off, if u like basketball, this is the film to watch, it's also a drama epic. The lead is also a world slam dunk champion, but he can act! Watch and find out! I loved it, a lot of my friends loved it. You have to watch it, rent it buy it steal it if u must just watch the film! The dunkers are all believable it looks real and realistic.

Most of all it gives God above all the props.

I remember when Stephen A. Smith said on air, "if you loved Rocky, you will love 'Slamma Jamma' - I thought NOTHING could be better than Rocky, but this film is. Why? Because it has the one missing ingredient Rocky didn't: FAITH IN GOD. If you can watch "Slamma Jamma" and not have a lump in your throat during several scenes, especially the ending, then you are a hard to please critic!! This movie deserved much better than the 5.9 rating. It deserves at least an 8 or 9.

To watch and see how Michael Diggs overcomes every obstacle he faces. To see how Michael truly triumphs, even if it isn't the best possible success for someone, for Michael it is everything. Rescuing his brother after his mom dies and then winning the national slam dunk competition - it doesn't get any better.

This movie is a story that teaches a lesson. It is not about basketball, but it is about believing in God for every circumstance. Never giving up. Always giving it your all.

Slamma Jamma is a movie that gives us something to believe in. BELIEVE.

Amazing how one of the best stories ever told in movies involve an "average Joe" who achieved his dream thru hard work----a Horatio Alger faith-based story indeed--10 out of 10 definitely ---For some of you "critics" that rated it worse than a "7" --you should take a class in movie critic reviews --you definitely would flunk my class if you gave this one a worse score than that!!

Left me in tears. It's all about GOD and some people despise that.

I almost never would give a 10 on a film since I believe that every film could do better, but in this case it is just a really good family film with some great take-a-ways. The acting keeps getting better in their films and the professionalism of the script level is very comparable to any family film produced by Hollywood. The messages and impact was felt deeply by myself. The next day I am still singing the songs in my head and trying to make some differences in my daily life to take advantage of the advise offered in the movie. I can't understand why many people would vote a '1' and then not even do a review, unless they never even saw the film and are just against anything with references to Jesus in a film. I guess that part hasn't changed in over 2000 years!? Go see the film and take someone with you...

Probably the most legendary faith basketball movies of all time, I finally got to see it, it was a great hole in my movie-viewing history. And finally I got to understand why a classic sports movie like this has made its mark at least in the urban faith-based sector. The intricate back plot comes first, and sets the movie on a melting pot of this guy named Michael Diggs, where everyone in the urban areas tries to make it out. This would provide sufficient material for hundreds of movies, but enter Chris Staples (a true dunk champion) and Michael Irvin and Jose Canseco, magnificent cinematography, role model storytelling, a perfect supporting cast, some of the best dialogue ever committed to celluloid and incredible singing THAT song, and history was made. More than dunks of jaw-drops are sufficient to give the sceptics a good reason to make them understand that this is probably the greatest classic faith-based sports movie of all time, and one of the best ever made in the past, present and future.

"Theres no easy way out" - this is the motto of the movie. One of my personal favorites. This one will leave you with tears and happiness, a great one to buy or rent. I like the director's previous film 'Suing the Devil' - very talented filmmaker.

AWESOME and came at perfect timing. With no words to say, this wonderful basketball movie has provided much needed boost for all the sports fans around the world. This film was even translated in German I hear.

Slamma is as compelling as it is heart breaking, as the question of "what could've been for this Michael Diggs (sp?) character?" . It's a comprehensive breakdown of the events that lead to the break up of the greatest slam dunk championship in history. Wonderfully captured with deep insight provided from the people that were actually there especially that 5'5 dunker. While simultaneously flipping back in time to give us a deeper understanding of how someone can lose his way. This has been 20+ years in the making and so far very much worth the wait. Why has no one ever made a movie about slam-dunking?

I saw director's new movie, 'The Islands' and had to see this film 'Slamma Jamma'

When a movie has a good story, or some superb character, or even a great soundtrack, it is a good movie. But when everything comes together, is about a piece of art what we're talking about. I think this is the case. From the first glance, this film is breathtaking with incredible basketball scenes and the amazing part was the actors could actually DUNK!!!!

10 out of 10 all the way.

10/10. This film is unbelievably bold for God. You won't ever find another movie in your lifetime, I believe, that is unabashedly unashamed of Jesus. The movie made you feel like you were actually there to witness this man's forgiveness for those who wronged him.....the movie was so touching, it actually made a person cry... and believe me when I say this. People ACTUALLY came out of the theater crying after the feature was over! And I must admit, this movie did get me. Some scenes actually made me WANT to cry.

Powerful, riveting, touching, heartfelt, inspiring, shocking, brilliant, and simply a masterpiece...Slamma gets a perfect score from me.

Best inspirational movie I ever saw in my life !!

I loved this movie because it was different from the rest. Most sports stories have predictable endings but this one follows a different storyline...because true stories do that. It is a great story of a man who didn't give up on his dream. Don't miss this one. It is well worth your time. Great acting by the lead actor who is also a champion slam dunk player I hear. It will make you laugh and cry.

I just truly enjoyed the storyline and how he got his chance to play. His whole life people told him that he was not enough and then wrongfully accused of a crime. And he ignored that and had faith in God above, and that is why this is one of the greatest underdog stories of all time.

If this were a Michael Bay film, chances are a committee of about fifteen hacks would have written it; the cannibals and the action of the story would be thrust to the forefront, and maybe a few huge brawling basketball robots would be thrown in for good measure. In director Timothy Chey's hands, however, this becomes a more subtle and human exercise that does quite the opposite: What if the odds are stacked up and only GOD can provide a way out? You either believe in God or you don't.

This movie was so powerful and emotionally challenging throughout, that you would have to be very hard hearted not to be effected. All the actors were outstanding and many never acted before.

There wasn't one moment in the movie where I was bored, there where lots of moments that did however make you think and wonder what you would do, how you would react, indeed, question your moral center and your faith in God.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE.

This is a 10 hankie movie. Every part of the movie is made to make you cry. If you look for underdog in the dictionary, you'll see the face of Michael Diggs. Sure the movie is manipulating us. For that I'll subtract a point. But it's something I'll mostly overlook because the manipulations work so well. The fact is Slamma Jamma has become bigger than a simple movie. It is the standard for underdog sports movies. It has become a synonym to inspirational combined with faith. So many people have told me about this film and loved it.

The story piles on the obstacles facing Diggs. The lead actor is just incredible because he can act and dunk. The story is overkill yet works beautifully. It is heartbreaking every time it happens. The music pulls at the emotional strings. They pile on more obstacles. Even though I know there are manipulations, it doesn't matter. It gets me every time. While not one of the greatest sports movies ever made, this is still a very entertaining and moving film that I'm sure will remain a favorite to many people.

Although it was predictable, the last big scene is an emotional powerhouse that would probably provide a tear in the viewer's eyes. It was truly an inspiring sports film about a real life underdog and a person with a endless determination that transcends sports for it is relevant to many who want to find inspiration in life in God and others.

9/10 Slamma is the most motivational movie ever made, and will continue to bring tears to movie watchers eyes for years to come. Over the years, and having watched this movie some 25-35 times now, it always screams out, "You can do anything you want if you put your faith in God and Trust in Him at all times." Chris Staples certainly has his most inspiring role in this movie, and he translates so perfectly what a young man chasing his only dream, to win back some sanity after being imprisoned falsely, can do if he sets his mind to it. The movie also represented what that period of time was like for anyone whoever wanted to play a major college sport, but was considered too small or too light or bad circumstances.

Whenever I watch this movie, it puts a smile on my face, a tear in my eye, and never ceases to amaze me how much a willing heart can influence so many other people. The real slam dunkers truly inspire the watcher with every scene, showing us that above all, persistence can make any one of us winners.

There is a lot of emotion in this film....wow....love it. As a Chicago guy, all I can say is this the best basketball film in ages....you will laugh, cry, and root....enough said....solid 9. Be well and God bless everyone on this thing.

I cried twice in this film - incredible great movie.

There are many elements that make the movie great. The actors really get into it and make you believe they are the players.

First time actor Chris Staples turns in an astounding performance.

The movie is inspiring and the best fact is it really happened. This movie is more than just a sports movie. It is a movie that shows dreams can come true.

You watch a team of young guys bond and become a family. You see these guys win from all of their hard work and determination. Their win at the time for slam dunks was a miracle and even today watching this movie you get the same great feeling that these guys did the impossible. This is a great sports movie and even if you don't like sports, it is still a great movie. I highly recommend this movie to everyone. It is a movie that you should definitely see if you're down because it is a movie about hope. It is also about victory and when the movie is over it will have every red-blooded American cheering for the good old comebacks and Chris is definitely come back.

This movie must have done something right because it had everyone get just as excited! The film also has a real "Indie" feel. It stars all kinds of unknowns and has all kinds of low-budget effects, the scenes mostly taking place on the rink or in locker rooms. There are many moments when your heart breaks for some of the players and their families.

THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS! I have to say this movie in a way is different than the other basketball movies. Why? BECAUSE IT HAS FAITH IN GOD. This is why it has a low 6.0 score (which use to be 8.3). The illegal downloaders should have learned a lesson, but being that we're in the last days, they exhibit end-times behavior. Only faith in Christ can change a man. If so, they will LOVE this film.

A+ - agree. This movie has an incredible message, it has a story, and it has very good acting. I don't know a reason why I shouldn't recommend it. Sure many filmmakers have attempted to create highly charged films about acceptance between a white and a black man and expect the audience to be clapping by the end of it, but rarely do the movies successfully depict a story about understanding and love between two races into a unity, and rarely does a film allow the user to be buried deep into thought about the very soul of a humans' consciousness for respect, respect for oneself, respect God, respect for one another, and cherish every moment of it. 'Slamma Jamma' does just that. I think this movie was wonderfully done with a genuine mixture of emotional highs and lows, as well as a certain level of predictability as in most sports films. Overall, The acting was excellent, and the chemistry between the actors was believable! I hesitated to see "Slamma" because I didn't want to see another jock film, but it is more than just another sportsl film. I was glad I saw this film since it is rich in character and plot.

"Slamma"" is a special film that has special performances and is well worth every dollar you spend to see this film.

This is the first movie I've ever seen that made me cry! Go see it! My comments doesn't matter for this one. Just spoil yourself and go see this masterpiece you will NOT be disappointed. This is definitely worth your while.

GREAT Basketball Movie That Puts FAITH in GOD above all else.

The basketball choreography was very gripping and the slam dunks were amazing.

A fantastic movie and one that has a message to look up to! Very well written and directed. I found it was well done in the fact that it was professional but more importantly it meets people where they are at and brings forth challenges to be more like God in our lives! The acting was great, the plot generally unpredictable. It catches you by surprise (which holds your attention well).

God bless all the producers for bringing forth such a movie that has high standards and is a good contrast against the low moral standards of movies today. IT REALLY IS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!

Despite being an Englishman I played hoops against USA Service teams over many years so understand Basketball. This is a Christian sports movie constructed in a marvelously entertaining manner fulfilling my boyhood dreams. Chris Staples might be a new actor for the role but I found him both believable and committed to giving a superb performance as an actor/athlete. Great cast, lovely music, super performances, brilliant fairytale story and a real feel good experience. Love all the faith messages in the end.

I seldom look for credibility in these types of movies. I want hope. If you don't walk away from Slamma Jamma with hope, then you just don't get it.

FAITH IN GOD. This is another one of the movie that makes you feel good and touch your emotions deeply.

I thought that this movie was excellent, one of the best, very many great young actors for example Chris Staples. The ending was predictable, but nonetheless entertaining.

Overall I liked this movie, it even made me cry and not just a few tears but a lot (along with my chin quivering a bit)

I am glad I saw this movie, and would recommend anyone else, who is contemplating seeing it, to just see it. I initially put off seeing the movie due to reading comments about how "predictable" it was and comments like, "Oh just another movie about how some guy who over come the odds to win the BIG GAME". But the movie is about so much more - I believe in God - and about values and lessons in integrity. You don't have to be a slam dunk enthusiast to enjoy it because the slam dunking is really just a backdrop to the main theme of the story. But then again, if you like amazing slam dunks - most anywhere in any film, you should also find the these scenes enjoyable.

This is from the same director of 'The Islands' - i found this film as moving as any i have seen and the dunk scenes make this truly a great action film. whats more of this film is how few people give this film credit or even recognize it as one of the filmmaker's better films. i give this film a good word and i would watch this film any time i needed a little uplifting motivation. this is a good film...Hands down. no actor could have done a better job in this film than Chris Staples. This guy can act and dunk. 10+

I'm not connected or affiliated to this movie in any way so a completely unbiased review here. Didn't really know what to expect with it but aside from a feeling of a b-rated execution, the story had substance and merit with a decent somewhat predictable plot. The dialogue was decent, not great. The directing might have been the weakest part of the film by not getting the most from the scenes and some rough acting from some of the supporting cast but the mains were good. Overall it had some very solid morales and comes across pretty authentic in its story and the hardships of coming back from prison. If you can look past the B-rated execution, it's a solid movie that deserves props for telling the story right.
