When completing the film, the filmmakers followed a David Attenborough narrative style script. Horrified by the utterly boring result, the threw the finished film in the trash and made a totally different film from their material. This time around, they used a Female Salmon as a Protagonist. The directors were happy with the lyrical result - as opposed to yet another run of the mill wildlife doc, narrated by a middle aged trustworthy male voice.
