The film is an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's short story "The Murders In the Rue Morgue." The film takes inspiration from the original text, Neo-Noir/Film-Noir, "Monster of the Week" episodes of X-Files, and the Italian Giallo films of Dario Argento and Mario Bava
The film was selected for the 7th annual "Terror On the Plains Film Festival" and Jordan was nominated for the 2018 David Berry Award for Best Local Filmmaker.
The film was shot in 3 days and shooting finished ahead of schedule every night.
There was a break between the first 2 nights of production and the final night because the director had tickets to go see Bruce Springsteen.
The original idea for the film was intended to be a modern version of "The Cask of Amontillado," with other filmmakers writing adaptations of Poe stories to create an anthology. Jordan wrote a script for Amontillado but Ryan came to him with the idea of doing a Horror/Noir version of The Murders In the Rue Morgue.
