The STIX Movie by Yoshi Player has to be one of the worst put together products I've ever seen in my life. I've been a part time follower of STIX, and while I don't agree it's a full on ripoff of Dick Figures, the series has had it's ups and downs. Season 3 was pretty good, but everything else was lowbrow and lazy with this movie being no exception. The animation is lazy (the lip syncing should be the main example), the characters are either unlikable or ear-grating, the villain is one of the worst I've ever seen, and I don't even feel it's appropriate to call it a MOVIE given it's only 42 minutes long. I have heard it's getting a remake, so hopefully we can get a better film.
I myself have watched Yoshi Player for quite a long time. His STIX Show is my favorite. When I found out The STIX Movie was coming out, I was really excited. When I saw the trailer it looked OK, but about a month ago, Yoshi Player released like, a "First Look" or "First 5 Minutes" or something like that. That footage seemed really funny and interesting. While the STIX Movie has a very short run time, of 42 Minutes, It's great how this was animated from just one guy. It's funny, clever, unique, and reminds me a lot pf South Park. I'll give The STIX Movie an 8.5/10. Check it out, it's worth your time! I honestly think this is really funny. Props to Yoshi Player for making such a good YouTube movie (Ahem, Lazer Team)
Right off the bat, I think it's appropriate to say that the entire "Stix" show is a total ripoff of "Dick Figures" and it's pretty obvious. Even the pilot of the show is line for line the pilot of "Dick Figures." But all that aside, I decided to give this movie a chance. I'm actually a fan of Yoshi Player, so I've been keeping up with production of the film as it was happening, and I was prepared to watch it with an open mind, fully aware that it would probably be very similar to "Dick Figures: The Movie" but I still wanted to give it a chance, as I enjoy watching films made by Youtubers. I can't bash on the animation too much, because it was a major step up from the show, and it was all animated by the same person. However, I do feel that if he had brought on a few other people to help him animate, it might have turned out better. Another complaint is the length. In order for a film to be considered a feature-length movie, it has to be at least an hour. I feel like there was so many things that could have been added into the plot that would've made it longer. It didn't even feel like I was watching a movie, it was like watching a 40 minute special. It just makes the plot seem rushed. Another thing I didn't like was Death's voice. There are so many ways they could have made the villain funny without making his voice sound so annoying. I also didn't like the beginning. It was way too similar to "Dick Figures: The Movie." The fact that they meet in kindergarten, grow up together, one is smarter than the other which makes their relationship dysfunctional. It's all too much alike. My biggest complaint, though, is the dialogue. It feels so forced. It almost sounds like the voice actors are coming up with their lines on the spot. As far as the jokes go, most of them fall flat, but a great number of them were pretty funny. All in all, this film wasn't god awful, but I feel that if certain things were done differently, it could have been a lot better.
