Laetitia Casta revealed how she chose the girls for the nude haka scene. "I didn't want models, nor actresses in particular - there are only two or three who are starting out in the profession. So I did a wild casting and asked these women to walk in front of me. Women in the street have always fascinated me. For a long time, less now, I think I envied them enormously for this lack of awareness of what they are, of their very strong animal power. I taught them to walk with their heads held high but not with the idea of a fashion show or a body reduced to a tool. No, it's something much more powerful: a creative force that truly constitutes the essence of women. Also because they say their real name and their age. Here again, the refusal of fantasy and projection... But it wasn't so easy to convince them that I needed to film them naked, that they shouldn't be ashamed of what they are." Casta doesn't film them exactly naked, only the lower part of the body is. "By filming these sexes, it's as if the little girl inside me was discovering my mother's sex, or another woman's. I find that women are ten thousand times more beautiful to look at than men."
