- Felipe a wealthy businessman who has been quadriplegic, due to an accident, is looking for a therapeutic assistant. There are several highly qualified, but he decides to take the assistant of his gardener, Tito who has decided to resign.
- Felipe is a wealthy businessman who became quadriplegic after a horseback riding accident many years ago. He is looking for a personal assistant; someone who will stay with him at all times and help him with his daily life. There are many qualified candidates for the position, but none convince him. Meanwhile, outside, Tito, his gardener Orlando's assistant has decided to resign after arguing with him. Tito is a foul-mouthed simple man who demands his severance pay directly to Felipe. Astonished, Felipe tells him to come back the next day, and in return, he'll pay him extra to compensate for Orlando's behavior. Tito returns home, after two months, to a disappointed mother, a sister named Romina with many kids, and a younger brother named Javi whose dealing with some sketchy people. Fed up with Tito's behavior, his mother kicks him out.
The next day, Tito arrives at Felipe's mansion, and Ivonne, Felipe's loyal housekeeper, shows him around. They get to Felipe's bedroom, and he offers Tito the job on the spot. Tito is taken by surprise, as he is not qualified at all to take care of Felipe. Felipe insists, telling him he will pay him five times more that Orlando did, and bets him that he won't last more than two weeks. Tito accepts, and moves in to the mansion.
During the coming weeks, Tito learns to care for Felipe's every need: he wakes him up, showers him, does his physical therapy, feeds him, reads his daily mail, and drives him around. Also, he gets to know everyone around the house, including Veronica, Felipe's gorgeous secretary (whom he tries to woo constantly), Elisa, Felipe's spoiled and disrespectful daughter, and Bautista, Elisa's boyfriend. Along the way, Felipe teaches Tito about art, culture, and general knowledge.
However, many of Felipe's close friends disapprove of Tito, as he is disrespectful, uneducated and morally ambiguous. Felipe cares little for those matters, as he hired Tito because he was the first person, in a long time, to treat him without pity.
One night, Tito hears screaming through the intercom, and runs to Felipe's room. He finds him wailing in pain, and doesn't know what to do. After a few hours, Tito decides to take Felipe out for a stroll... at 4 am in the morning. While they walk, Felipe tells him about this "phantom pain" while Tito offers him a joint to make him relax. Felipe starts to open up to Tito, and tells him about his beloved wife, who passed away a few months before his own accident. Before they return home, Felipe congratulates Tito, as he has been working for him for more than a month. He offers him a full-time job, and Tito happily takes on the offer.
Tito starts getting closer with Felipe, and he joins him on several more activities; going to the opera, painting on his own, working out, making jokes about life, and writing letters to Felipe's secret pen pal, Sofia. Tito starts giving Felipe more courage about himself, and decides to send a picture of Felipe in Sofia's next letter. Meanwhile, Felipe gets stricter with Elisa about her behavior, and scolds her for mistreating Tito, and Tito gets back in touch with his sister Romina, and they make up.
One evening, on Felipe's birthday party, Tito notices that Elisa is crying and has been taking pills, trying to overdose. She tells him that Bautista called her a bitch, and she doesn't want to live without him in her life. She pleads with Tito to talk to him, but Tito insists to her that she must get dressed and see her father. After playing through a monotonous repertoire of classical music for Felipe, Tito stops the musicians and plays some classic Argentinian "cumbia", livening up the party. While tucking Felipe in for bed, Tito shows him that Sofia answered the letter back, with a picture of herself, and asking him out on a date the coming week. Felipe lies on his bed, with a smile on his face, but a worried expression.
The next week, Tito scolds Bautista, berates him for calling Elisa a bitch, goads him into bringing her chocolates every Tuesday for the next year and to apologize to her. That night, Felipe is waiting for Sofia at a restaurant, with Ivonne accompanying him. However, he gets cold feet about meeting her (as he never told her he was crippled), and decides to leave. Meanwhile, Tito is out in Felipe's van, and drives next to the building where his mother works as a cleaning lady. He watches her from afar, sad and disappointed with himself. He gets a call from Felipe, telling him to meet him back at the house.
They arrive at the airport, and board Felipe's private jet, intending to get away for the weekend. As they take off, Tito is terrified, and Felipe hands him over a folder. Tito opens it, and sees it has a generous amount of money in it. Felipe tells Tito that he managed to sell one of Tito's painting for 12,000 dollars, and that he should continue painting, for he has a lot of talent. Tito is humbled, and thanks him truthfully. As the plane hits a gust of warm air, Felipe say that they lost a turbine. Tito is terrified, but sees it's a joke, and they both laugh. Felipe says he's very happy he met Tito. Tito tells him he thinks the same way, and later comments that the joke was off, as Felipe is used to tragedy and Tito isn't. Felipe laughs it off, but keeps a thoughtful look.
They arrive at the beach, and rent a few horses to ride next to the sea. Felipe is mounted on a special harness, while Tito rides behind him. It's the first time that Felipe gets on a horse in many years; they gallop happily along the shore.
After they return to the mansion, Ivonne tells Tito that someone is waiting for him. He finds his brother Javi in his room, with a black eye. He scolds him, telling him he could've been killed, and makes him wait while he goes and talks to Felipe. Felipe asks him who his brother is, and Tito tells him the truth; his mother isn't his mother, she is his aunt, and he has been under her care after his father left him when he was eight. Javi is his cousin, but Tito thinks of him as his brother, as he has known him since he was born. Also, Tito's real name is Iván, but they call him Tito because he couldn't say "Ivancito" when he was younger, but rather "Ivantito". Felipe understands that Javi came to ask for Tito's help, and he relieves Tito as his assistant, assuring him that his family needs him more than a cripple. With tears in his eyes, Tito takes Felipe to his room, one last time.
Tito and Javi leave the mansion the next day, with Tito saying goodbye to Veronica, amicably finding out that she is a lesbian. He also says goodbye to Ivonne, and insists on her asking Orlando out, as they have been attracted to one another for a long time. Tito waves one last goodbye to Felipe, and walks out with his brother. They head to the tram station, where they pick their mother up, and walk home together.
The next few weeks are grim for Felipe; none of his new assistants bring him the joy that Tito brought into his life, and becomes more despondent and unkempt as time goes by. Meanwhile, Tito threatens the guys that beat Javi up, pays them, and they leave Javi alone. He manages to get a job as a taxi driver, wowing the interviewer with his smooth talk and art knowledge.
One night, Felipe is experiencing phantom pains again, and angrily sends his assistant away. Ivonne calls Tito for help, and he arrives to a gleeful Felipe. He hugs him, and takes him for a joyride in Felipe's sports car. They zoom through the streets of Buenos Aires, catching the attention of some cops. They catch up to them, and Tito comes up with a ruse; he tells the officers his boss is having a heart attack, and Felipe manages to trick the men by coughing up hard and sore. The policemen escort them to the nearest hospital, and they leave. Then Felipe asks "What now?". Tito answers, "You leave it to me", and they drive away.
After a few hours, they arrive on the beach. They look out of their hotel balcony, into the blue horizon. Tito puts a hand on Felipe's shoulder, assuring him everything will be just fine. He then proceeds to shave him, and make him ready for lunch.
They arrive at a restaurant overlooking the beach. They sit on a table for two, and Tito says he is leaving. Felipe is confused, but Tito asks him to trust him; everything is going to be alright. He then takes something out of his jacket pocket; a blue Fabergé egg that he'd previously stolen from Felipe. It was a present Felipe gave to his former wife every year in their anniversary. Then, with a smile, he says to Felipe's ear, "Give her a kiss for me, boss", and he leaves.
Felipe is utterly bewildered, but just moments later, a gorgeous blonde woman appears before him; it is Sofia. "Hello Felipe", she says. Felipe smiles, his eyes glowing with joy.
The film ends with Tito walking down the coastline, while the camera pans away.
