Trivia

Camp Cold Brook

Edit
Legendary genre director Joe Dante said he decided to be executive producer on this film in order to help mentor young filmmakers much like he was mentored by people who were already in the business and were successful, including Roger Corman and Steven Spielberg. He said "If I didn't have those people in my corner, I wouldn't have been able to do the work that I did. And so it's in the spirit of giving back that my little company looks for material. Not blockbuster expensive material, but makable material from young filmmakers who could use a little help in trying to put together their projects."
In the scene where Chad Michael's character checks his mail, the envelopes show his street address as 742 Evergreen Terrace, which also happens to be the same street address as The Simpsons characters.
The script has a little fun at Executive Producer Joe Dante's expense. While driving to the camp, the gang is listening to a radio personality named Rockin' Ricky. Rockin' Ricky is also the name of the local disc jockey in "Gremlins" (1984). Dante directed both "Gremlins" and it's sequel.
Courtney Gains also appeared in The 'Burbs (1989), which was directed by Joe Dante, who executive produced this film.
