Luis A. Lozada Jr. in Vico C: La vida del filosofo (2017)

Trivia

Vico C: La vida del filosofo

Edit
Originally planned for a December 2016 release in Puerto Rico, the film's release date was then moved to early 2017, before finally being scheduled for early August, 2017.
Was number one at the Puerto Rican box office for its first two weeks of release, even though it received no reviews, or social media mentions, from any of Puerto Rico's 'mainstream' film critics until after its exhibition start date. As of September, 2017, film critic Francisco 'Fico' Cangiano (Cinexpress) had been the only 'mainstream' critic to publish a review for the film.
The film was shot in 24 days, mostly in San Juan Puerto Rico. Since the actual place where Vico C spent the vast majority of his early life, the housing project "Las Acacias", was demolished many years ago, the production used the "Luis Llorens Torres" public housing buildings to recreate the neighborhood where the artist grew up.
The film not only depicts the life tribulations, success, fall and rebirth of iconic urban movement singer and composer Vico C, but also shows the birth, development, growth, and establishment of the urban movement as a bona fide music genre in Puerto Rico.
Vico C and his production team decided to remaster and re-record many of his songs for the film. This included re-releasing some of his commercially unavailable, "underground" songs like "De la Calle" and "Katiria".
