The film is based on director Luc Bondy own staging of the Marivaux, which premiered at the Odeon theater in Paris (where the film was shot) on January 16, 2014.
The film was shot during the day while the same cast was performing the play on stage at the Théatre de l'Odeon each evening.
Despite being a TV movie, was released in France on DVD two days before its initial television broadcast.
