Episode 7 of season 4 of "The Last Ship" may be a feast, but it has little fun and less food to munch on than necessary for a show to be entertaining. On top of that, we get to know Dr. Vellek's plans for humanity, and, of course, they are so over-the-top and been-there- done-that that the writers should be sent to sleep without dinner.
The Nathan James crew goes in search of Giorgio, thinking that he and his secret room may help Chandler & co. to find where Dr. Vellek's secret laboratory is. In the respite moments between bullets flying and the techno party, we get Peter Weller munching through his silly dialogue and creating another one of those I-am-god characters that seem to be so popular.
The Nathan James's mission is... well, OK. Bullets fly, Giorgio is fun to be with, things happen and extras fall all around with glee and energy. But it falls back into the bang-bang with no purpose. Worse is Vellek's exposition of his crazy plan, one of those moments so ridiculous that you expect the actor to look at the camera and wink.
I don't know if the Nathan James can jump sharks. But it is trying to.
