The name of the film, "Styx," comes from the Greek. The word literally means "shuddering" and expresses loathing of death. The River Styx was known as the river of lost dreams, or hatred. In Greek mythology, Styx is a river that forms the boundary between Earth and the Underworld, and across which Charon ferried the souls of the dead, for payment.
