Jerry Lacy and Nathan Wilson in The Thousand and One Lives of Doctor Mabuse (2020)

Trivia

The Thousand and One Lives of Doctor Mabuse

Edit
An idea for the 3rd film, way back in 2012, was that Christina Novello would come into possession of the Necronomican and would unleash an alien invasion heralded by the arrival of Wilbur Whatley upon Etiopomar. Another idea was that the film would draw upon Fritz Lang's WOMAN IN THE MOON for inspiration. At one point, the film revolved around the Three Mothers and Lady Levana and psychic investigator Thomas Carnacki solving a mystery which would involve Mabuse to a small degree. The main story idea most frequently discussed involved Maria the Robot having disguised herself as a mortal, writing a book about Mabuse, and Fritz Lang making it into a movie, only to be haunted by Mabuse who would then take over Hitler's position in Germany. Another suggested idea was a story taking place in an Orwellian dystopia of the future - hence AD 1984. No other details other than setting were developed.
Linden Chiles, who passed away in 2013, posthumously reprises his role of Inspector Von Wenk in this 2020 production through the use of deleted footage from the original feature Doctor Mabuse (2013), and through footage from other Ansel Faraj productions - namely, The Haunted Men (2013) and The Mystic Tales of Nikolas Winter (2012).
Between August 2016 and February 2018, Ansel Faraj and Nathan Wilson wrote over 15 treatments and outlines for a new Mabuse film; some of which were direct third installments continuing the established story from Doctor Mabuse: Etiopomar (2014); while most were brand new stand alone adventures following Carl Lohemann and Dr. Mabuse. None of the ideas explored in these treatments eventually made it into this new film, with the exception of Lohemann successfully killing Mabuse at the start of the tale - which originates from the full "Lohemann" epic screenplay.
This film was inspired by and produced during the COVID 19 pandemic and lock-down. Jerry Lacy performed all of his scenes on his cellphone, the footage he then sent to Ansel Faraj to integrate alongside Nathan Wilson who reacted off a playback recording of Lacy's Mabuse a month after Lacy completed his work on the production.
This film was inspired by, and produced entirely during the Covid 19 lock-down of 2020.
