I had initially started this review with a brief history of the place in my heart that I have for the Skyline franchise but you know what? Let me just say that I am a total sci-fi nerd, I love alien invasion film and I especially love a flick that has the balls to have insane ambition and looks to create a wide reaching universe. Skyline has always been that franchise! A franchise that knows exactly what it is and where it wants to be; a franchise that for the budget they have, always pulls out the stops and impresses from start to finish; a franchise that lets be honest doesn’t get the credit it deserves.

Back when The New Mutants was in production, it was part of an ambitious slate of X-Men movies that were pushing the franchise in bold new directions. Deadpool was a self-aware comedy. Logan was an R-rated drama for adults. And director Josh Boone‘s tale of young mutants being held in a psychiatric hospital was a […]

Hello, readers! Right now, we’re dealing with a lot and I know for so many of you those concerns are compounded because you have little ones to keep safe and healthy (and even entertained) during this incredibly tense and scary time. Last week, I put together a list of light-hearted horror and sci-fi films that you can stream right now as you stay safely within the confines of your homes (you can read that list Here), and today, I’ve put together this massive streaming resource that I’ve cultivated with the younger genre fans out there in mind (especially if they’re not quite ready to make the leap to more “grown-up horror or sci-fi” just yet).
I tried to make sure to pull a sampling of shows and movies that would work for those of you who may have access to pay services like Netflix, Amazon Prime,...

Singaporean composer Rich Ho Kok Tai makes his feature film directorial debut with “Heavens: The Boy and His Robot,” a sci-fi project about the relationship between a young pilot and his humanoid companion. Ho, who wrote, directed and produced, was previously a member of the 2008 edition of the Berlin Film Festival’s Talent Campus.
Co-written by Katharine Chong, and starring Jonathan See, the film is conceived as part of a multi-layered, connected and immersive universe that will be exploited across multiple media platforms including games, TV and films. It is currently in post-production in Australia, where it is assembling visual effects that include robot technology and 3D animation.
The film builds on the mecha Japanese-originated anime genre that has spawned franchises such as “Transformers,” “Pacific Rim,” and “Real Steel.” Ho says that he is giving the genre a positive and family friendly spin, as the hero and his mecha join...

Respawn’s first tentative steps towards teasing Apex Legends Season 4 have begun right on cue.
As predicted earlier this week by data miners forcing their way into the battle royale’s files, fans think they’ve discovered the first of what’s likely to be several in-game events leading into Season 3’s successor. Reporting their own findings on Twitter, Shrugtal notes that strange objects have started materializing in the sky over World’s Edge, a sign many are taking to mean that an alien invasion is imminent.
You can check out the unidentified flying objects for yourselves via the gallery below:

Asmodexia director Marc Carrete returned to the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival this year with a little something new for audiences craving high end scares. Presented as part of the Pitchbox program, Carrete shared a proof of concept trailer for his upcoming, English language effort, After The Lethargy.
