In this musical adaptation of Nick Joaquin 's play, A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino, the offered sum by the prospective American buyer for the titular portrait is 20,000 Philippine Pesos or 10,000 US Dollars while in the non-musical adaptation, A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino (1965), it is 10,000 Pesos or 5,000 Dollars.
Though it features prominently in the story, the titular larawan ("portrait"), A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino is only vaguely shown throughout the film.
