I found out about this series through reviews of the new Daisuke Jigen live-action movie by Amazon (Which was excellent!!!, BTW). This is on some low-budget, second tier Amazon add-on channel (add-on more money) I've never heard of. It's over five years old, yet Amazon has never suggested it, nor put it in my feed. Even with all the Lupin stuff I watch. I'm not going to pay for this channel, but I was lucky enough to find five subtitled episodes at Internet Archive. The Pilot was a stand-alone 95 minute episode that wasn't too bad. The rest were connected 50 minute story arch episodes that I lost interest in. There is such limited information about this show online. I can't even find out exactly how many episodes there are. Imdb says 4, but I already found 5. Other sources say 8 or even 9. Either way. I don't think it's worth an add-on channel subscription or the time to watch it. Gigen, on the other hand, was definitely worth putting on the glasses to read subtitles. It's the same actor from the 2014 movie, which I enjoyed also.
The pilot episode started off okay with some humor and good action but the rest of the episodes becomes a boring police drama.
Every other episode is just a clichéd police show with Inspector Zenigata, whom the show portrays nothing like his manga and anime character. He's a hard boiled cop that's actually apprehends the generic villains of the show.
If you're expecting something like the anime or manga you'll be disappointed. Ryohei Suzuki does do a good job with the voice and the look of the character and the pilot episode had good moments but that's where positives end.
So if you're a Lupin III fan I'd not bother trying to seek this out.
