Amy Adams is a critically-acclaimed actress, and the film's casting director certainly cast her there for a good reason. The film hasn't been released yet.
This film is based on a recent novel of the same by AJ Finn. However, the description of the plot and the scenes shown in the trailers do bear a striking resemblance to the 2012 film Columbus Circle, in which an agoraphobic woman is drawn out after witnessing a murder and is confused when many of the facts do not make sense.
Would anyone really plagiarize the premise of the 1995 film Copycat, lifting identifying details, and think no one would notice?
