Amy Adams in The Woman in the Window (2021)

Trivia

The Woman in the Window

Edit
In July 2019, The Hollywood Reporter said that the film had left test audiences confused, so the release date was pushed from 2019 to 2020 as the studio worked on reshoots. The Woman in the Window was the final film from Fox 2000 before it shuttered in the wake of the Disney-Fox merger, and this was one of the final setbacks that the film faced. "We're dealing with a complex novel," Fox 2000 president Elizabeth Gabler told THR "We tested the movie really early for that very reason. We wanted to make it better, and we've had Disney's full support in doing that." Director Joe Wright planned five days for pick-up shots aimed at getting the film back on track.
Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor were originally hired to score the film. After the film's release was delayed and the film went back into production, it was announced that they were replaced by Danny Elfman.
Originally set to be released in October 2019, it was postponed until May 2020. Poor test screenings necessitated reshoots. By the time the film was completed, the Covid-19 pandemic was kicking in, so release was delayed once again. Netflix was then able to pick up the rights and released it -- to scathing reviews -- on its platform in May 2021.
Liza Colón-Zayas was cast as Bina, Anna's physical therapist, but all of her scenes were edited out.
This marks the first instance of screenwriter Tracy Letts writing a film adaptation not based on his own works.
