Rita De La Torre came up with the story for Seekers, based on her love of Indiana Jones, Lara Croft and the National Treasure movies. She co-wrote, co-produced and co-directed with her husband J.C. De La Torre.
While in principal photography, actress Allison Farrell sustained an injury to her hand from a cat scratch. Seekers star Jim Horning turned this into the infamous outtake, singing, "Cat Done Scratched the Girl".
Trying to keep costs of production down and knowing that rental fees for studios in the area were high, Rita and J.C. De La Torre literally built a green screen studio in their garage at their home. About 60% of the film was filmed there.
