Continent 7: Antarctica

This is absolutely right up my street in terms of subject. It's utterly perfect except for the constant tense music during even the most pedestrian activity.

They need to offer a version without music.

Ooh there's a man carrying a cup across a room to the music from Inception.

Reckon that it counts as a good 3 points off it's that intrusive.

That aside; It's a really great and beautifully filmed documentary with some fascinating characters and I'd recommend it to you I might actually try it with subs and silence. Mmm I'll report back.

My goodness I really love music. I've spent thousands on audio equipment but there's a time and a place ffs.

This is NOT sensationalized badly. Altough it is definitely based on an "risky adventure" theme, it doesn't mean it was a wrong approach. The Antartica is indeed a vastly undiscovered continent, thus full of risks, tragic events and emotion of success. Artistically, it creates a drama like adventure -many explorers have tragically died because we are yet to discover accurate and high survival techniques while trying to explore the continent.

In a more personal taste, I don't see this being better by focusing heavily on the scientists and get to know them, it's not a scientist documentary. It's exploring Antartica documentary, thrilling, yet very informative scientifically and environmentally.

The people are interesting. Real scientist, they know kilometres and centigrade.

The annoying voice over changes it to miles and football fields.

Makes for a frustrating to watch.

What could have been a very nice documentary about interesting people in an amazing environment is ruined by a sensation/action seeking voice over and annoying way of cutting.

This is what you would find on the modern discovery channel. It's all about the dangers and what could go wrong. Which is of course an important aspect of being out there however it is used for sensational reasons. And you know the type of voice over when you hear it.

It would have been more interesting to learn about the scientists, who they are, why they are there.

A real shame because I'm super interested in Antarctica and the people there.
