On Tuesday, 23rd June 2020, BBC Two announced that it has commissioned a 6-episode sixth series of the documentary series to be broadcast in Autumn 2020. The sixth series will be filmed at the Royal Free London Hospital which featured in the two Fighting Covid-19 specials.
On 24th October 2019 BBC Two announced that the fifth series of the award-winning documentary series will be filmed at hospitals in Merseyside. The 8-episode fifth series commences filming in late October 2019 for broadcast in 2020.
On Wednesday, 21st April 2021, BBC Two announced that filming has commenced on the seventh series of the documentary series. Series 7 will consist of 6-episodes, will air on BBC Two in spring 2021 and is being filmed at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire.
