Decent Movie......Could be better. No Spoilers

I am by no means a movie expert, apart from that I watch a lot of movies. The story was intriguing yet let down by gaps in the plot. The main character could have benefited from a performance by a stronger actor. There were many underlying bits of information that I wanted to find out about the main character, the movie possibly could have benefited from some flashbacks so we could actually understand who he is and what he has done. When the action begins, it begins too quickly and seems a little stilted and far fetched that the lead doesn't even seem to question what his actions should be. I did enjoy the movie, but I wont be watching again.

Annoying 616

Some friends get together for a dinner and then do a designer drug that screws one of them over big time. This has him taking the life out of the party.

Deep religious themes are mixed with gore in this one. This film does get pretty intense at times as well as boring the other times. The main lead is annoying and some people will probably hate the ending but the good thing is there won't likely be a sequel.

Those little flaws hamper the picture. You just can't get into it. They should have called it Annoying 616.

Not nearly as smart as it thinks it is

The other reviews recommended this movie, so I was left very disappointed, if not scammed, after watching it.

Let's begin by saying that the acting is fine for the most part and the cinematography looks professional. The movie starts okay, with a suitably mysterious opening and a first act that makes you wonder what's going to happen.

Unfortunately that's all that can be said for the good parts. The real plot is started by an element that could have been interesting but is immediately followed by decisions so mind-blowingly idiotic that the whole thing becomes impossible to take seriously and you are taken right out of the movie.

The rest of the movie is a succession of meaningless acts of cruelty with intellectual talking points thrown in to make it appear smarter than it is. Religion, morality, war and man's innate violence are some topics brought up seemingly at random and with nothing to say that hasn't already been said by a much better movie or your weed smoking college roommate, when it has something to say at all.

To top it all, the movie ends with a ridiculous "twist" that manages to be both completely nonsensical and more predictable than a children's cartoon, means nothing to the viewer since it highlights even more the idiocy of the main character and brings a new character at the last minute, and ends with unintentionally funny special effects probably done by someone who wanted to show off to their mother what they learned to do with a computer.

Don't waste your time.

Are you kidding me?

I just have to laugh at all these positive reviews! I gave it a 2 star rating (Because I reserve the 1 star rating for Asylum movies) I disagree with the other reviews. Not so hot acting, I really didn't feel it "suspenseful", "thrilling" or "riveting". The only reason the flick was "thought provoking" was due to the lack of lack of story. So it makes to try and feel in the gaps. And by these reviews, these people had more of an imagination than what's in the movie. I came to the conclusion that it was the cast members who gave the rave reviews.

Tremendous waste of time

This is the worst movie I've seen in a long time. I made this account just to review it so you (hopefully) wouldn't get tricked by the decent rating like we did. Predictable, boring, poorly written, bad acting...soooo bad.

Don't get the low rating...

The movie is well done - the acting is quite good, the story line keeps you guessing, the production values are solid...

What's not to like?

Perhaps some people could draw some deeper 'statement' from the movie - I did not - however its not a preachy film and certainly is open to interpretation - which I like. Enjoy.

DeWeldon Wields Star Power

I have seen Daneil DeWeldon portray a Tennessee Williams cross-dresser with heart-wrenching vulnerability, and in Anonymous 616 a PTSD plagued vet who unravels with terrifying believability. This actor is a chameleon who can deliver the best, the worst, the darkest, and--yes--the creepiest of the characters he undertakes to serve up to the audience so fearlessly. His next stop should be with A-listers in a mega-hit. That said, this movie was a vehicle for a mind-blowing performance by a gifted lead actor; but the story was hardly deserving of his talents. Brutal and, in many ways, offensive, I would not recommend it to people of delicate sensibilities. Not sure whether it was trying to make a statement about drug use bringing out the worst in a sufferer of PTSD, or implying that torturing prisoners of war can invite Satan into your heart. Either way, the outcome was unsavory and both the vet and the viewer end up losers.

What did I just watch?

I'm a bit confused on how this flick attained high ratings. Positive reviews from cast and family??? Friends?? Bribery??? On the plus side, the acting wasn't bad at all. Cinematography was good. The rest was down hill. Old plot, a laughable "twist". This is a non thinking persons film.

Nietzsche on drugs

This film captured my attention from the outset - a murder mystery that unravels into a suspenseful spiritual study of a man psychologically coping with a God-complex. Basically, Nietzsche on acid (or in this case, DMT). The lead actor demonstrates a wide range portraying a 360-degree human with laser precision on every detail, with every movement, and penetrating behavior. It's worth noting that the concept of this being filmed in a single location works on the viewer's subconscious where the feeling of confinement and not being able to escape runs as an undercurrent to the abject horror.

Better than most of what comes out of Hollywood, these days!

Hollywood political and social agenda writers are ruining so many potentially good movies and television series, these days - that's what makes this one so much better than those - *nothing but entertainment for the viewer*!

Pretty good plot, a tad predictable once you get into it, but it still kept me watching.

Unknowns for cast, but they earned a "6" from me.

Indie/independent movies are getting better, and better, and it will be *that* venue that brings Hollywood back to Reality Land...and they start to fire all their agenda-driven writers! Just! Entertain! Us!

Interesting! Didn't waste my time.

I thought this film has been seriously underrated by some reviewers. Makes me wonder if there's a club of rival reviewers that are paid or offered something as an incentive to trash decent films or if they just didn't get it! Personally I liked it.. ok we've seen similar stories but this film was a bit different and not padded out with cliches. Don't trust the haters. In my humble opinion there was enough tension to wonder what next..and sometimes it verged on voyuerism even in softish focus. Worth a watch.

Reuniting for massacre

Was drawn into seeing 'Anonymous 616' with a cool poster/cover, a very intriguing if not creative premise and as someone with a general appreciation for horror. That it was low-budget, which from frequent personal experience is rarely a good sign due to that there are so many poor ones out there, made me though apprehensive.

'Anonymous 616' is a film it doesn't do enough with its potential (although there are far bigger wastes of potential in film) and could have been much better. 'Anonymous 616' is very weak with a lot of big problems. It certainly could have been far worse, considering the large number of films seen recently being mediocre at best and terrible at worst.

Lets start with the positives. The setting is atmospheric and spooky and 'Anonymous 616' is surprisingly well shot and easy on the eye, was expecting a cheap looking film and to me that wasn't the case here.

'Anonymous 616' has some suspenseful and creepy moments in the first third and it started off on a fun and intriguing note.

Albeit, there is nothing new here, it's all familiar territory and executed in old-hat fashion. The second half also takes itself far too seriously and gets incredibly idiotic, a very completely different film feel here. The creepiness dissipates completely fairly early on, with the horror and tension being nowhere near enough. Things start not making much sense and gets silly, with one of the most ludicrous and easily foreseeable plot twists ever. The acting

Further issues are that it was clear that it was written in haste. There is a very rushed and careless feel to the story, especially in the second half where confusion and choppiness can be found in editing and narrative, and the underdeveloped and scrappy script likewise. Then there is some padding and aimlessness that also gives the film a dragging sensation. The characters are flimsily developed, annoying and bland, the direction lacks focus and the music and sound editing are far too intrusive and obvious.

In summary, weak. 3/10 Bethany Cox

Bad movie.

The plot is bad, acting is mediocre, special effects are very cheap. There are a couple of scenes that re ok but doesn't elevate the movie at all. The actors are bad and the script just doesn't do them any good.

Whew! It's Dark with a Capital D!

This is possibly the darkest movie I've ever seen and I watch a lot of movies. It's important to know that it's a low budget movie and takes place all in one location with minimal effects. The best part of the entire movie is the performance from the lead played by Daniel De Weldon. This was my first time seeing him in a movie and his performance is unbelievably strong, especially for an indie movie. It's easily the most intense performance I've ever seen in an indie movie and I expect we'll see more from him. This movie is a great watch for anyone looking for something extremely dark to watch or anyone interested in seeing an early performance from an actor likely to make it big.

And the reviewers go insane!

This is a filmmaker's film, not a filmgoer's film. It's a zero budget amateur experimental torture porn. It takes torture porn to the next level with necrophilia torture. No women or children should see this.

There most certainly is a story, & it's actually a good, well-written one with a good script too. A traumatized soldier takes drugs at a couple's get together & thinks he's having a conversation with an omniscient online chatter who's telling him to free his submerged impulses in order to be like god & be all he can be. Sounds cheesy, but it was actually respectfully well executed. And I can't think of anything more ambitious to pull off. Everything flowed smoothly, no matter how unbelievable it got. Quite the experimental film success.

The shock value alone is worth the watch - for men only - but there was no atmosphere or even creep factor, so it lacks a lot. Like I said, torture porn 2.0. With a disappointing Christian horror ending, that could have been a chilling demonic possession ending. Interesting still.

Solid but somewhat problematic effort

Awakening in a bloodsoaked apartment, a man struggles to regain his memory of what happened the night before and gradually recalls the series of events that caused him to go on a crazed rampage through his friends and then races to prevent any evidence of the crime from getting out.

Overall, this one wasn't all that bad of an effort. One of it's strongest attributes is a wholly intriguing and mysterious setup that gets this going on a strong note. Seeing the aftermath of the carnage and being forced to relieve what happened is a rather common setup here yet this one manages to work in some rather enjoyable elements here by going about it with a decent setup. Looking at the apartment with the dead bodies strewn around the room covered in blood while he also has plenty of splatter on him as well, there's a definite need to know more about what happened the night before that gives this a fine setup to get going. Likewise, the flashbacks to the party the night before and what happened there are rather enjoyable. From the friendly banter and catch-up stories that start this off on nice mark as it seems like a genuine gathering of friends, the party that transcends into the more horrific elements featured here is a fine start that makes for a truly disturbing outcome when it all plays out. These scenes of him going through the motions and taking out the anger and frustration that occurs here is built entirely around the brutality and carnage that occurs here as the psychological impulses governing him allows for some really intense moments throughout here. Coupled with a fine professional gloss for an indie film and some decent gore, these here are what really work for the film. There are some minor problems with this one. The biggest issue here is the actual motivation for why the snap occurred and sent him on his spiral, which just makes no sense whatsoever. The fact that it's from a serious of anonymous messages over the computer from an account that he doesn't know, has just one session with and then suddenly turns into a pedophile capable of killing people or spouting off the threats about the past that he does is purely coincidental and means very little to the film itself. It's not explained why he feels this way, what about the messages send him over the edge or what the entire purpose is supposed to entail. That also brings up the other major issue with the film in that once he snaps, it's really not that interesting anymore. Since the purpose of why he snapped isn't that intriguing, seeing him engage in these activities has no meaning. The continuous ranting, raving and cursing of everything that happens just becomes bland and repetitive, and being so matter-of-factly in their execution that the only thing that registers is the actual carnage and torture being inflicted since nothing else is really all that interesting. With a final twist that makes the entire experience all the more laughable, these here are what hold this one down.

Rated R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language and drug use.

Thought provoking psychological thriller.

Thought provoking psychological thriller. The story starts off innocent then escalates in intensity, with blood, graphic violence, cursing, drugs and real nudity, until it's insane! Strong acting in some of the principal characters. Suspenseful story about the consequences of inviting strangers into your life keeps this film moving forward. The film raises several interesting questions about life, motivations and emotions, with some existential angst. I enjoyed the unexpected comeuppance at the end.

Great movie!!!!!!

People who gave this film bad reviews just don't get it. First of all please keep finding joy and contentment in your Jim Carey movies.. and second of all get educated on what so many of our vets bring back home with them. P.S.thankyou for your service! Regardless, the plot, the acting, not up to par you say. You people are the 'very essence' of the movie's message. Lmao..well done!

Day time tv 1990s

Oh my god, how on earth did this attain so many great reviews? The acting terrible and the script is dire. Oh did I mention the production is crap too, I don't think they had anyone doing lighting at all! I imagine this is what it's like when you move into a Barratt Home and invite the mates around!
