The cast and crew slept at the cabin they filmed at and had to haul the gear in and out on snowmobiles.
Claire mentions going to the Lone Pine Mall to get a Christmas tree ..a nod to Back to the Future and the Lone Pine Mall where Doc initially shows Marty the time machine. It was the Twin Pines Mall at that time until Marty went back in time and killed one of the baby pine trees that were the inspiration for the name Twin Pines Mall.
